Abstract: A fluid distribution system is especially useful in agricultural apparatus for delivering liquid agricultural chemicals to agricultural fields. The system includes a flow divider with a cylindrical stator with a ring of collection chambers around the bottom of the stator and a rotor having a flow passage from the center of the top end to the bottom end above the ring of collection chambers. The flow dividers may be cascaded to provide multiple outlets. The system may include plural liquid supplies and a mixer for mixing the liquids from the plural supplies to provide a desired blend upstream of the flow divider. It is preferred that the flow of each liquid can be varied to vary the blend. The system may also include a control that varies the blend according to requirements as distribution proceeds. This may include a recorded mapping of a field being treated and a position sensor, for example a global position sensor (GPS) for monitoring the position of the apparatus in the field.

  • Patent number: 6318644
Abstract: A fluid transfer pump wash-out apparatus is provided to facilitate cleaning of fluid transfer pump system components. The wash-out apparatus is adapted for temporary or permanent insertion between at least one pump liquid source pick-up point and a pump intake. The body of the wash-out apparatus is preferably adapted for connection in a pick-up hose assembly. The wash-out apparatus body is joined to a flow valve that is coupled to an intake coupler. The flow valve is operable to control the flow of fluid from the first pick-up hose into the body. The intake coupler is in turn coupled to a first pick-up hose that transports fluid from the liquid source pick-up point to the wash-out apparatus. An output coupler joined to the output end of the body is coupled to a second pick-up hose for connection to the fluid transfer pump assembly. A wash-out hook-up is provided to couple the body of the wash-out apparatus to a source of cleaning fluid.

  • Patent number: 6315214
Abstract: A method includes providing a paint system having a plurality of supply tanks that can be selected for supplying powder paint to a spray site, each having a supply line connected to the supply tank and having an end section, a spray gun, and a purge air supply. Each end section is configured for selective connection to the spray gun to spray powder paint from the supply tank and also for connection to the purge air supply to blow residue powder paint in the supply line back into the supply tank. A control device operably connects a fluidizing air supply to each supply tank. The control device is configured to fluidize the powder paint in each tank at a low standby pressure when the supply tank is not in use, and to fluidize the powder paint in the tank at a higher operating pressure when the supply tank is selected for use. Methods related to the above cause the color change to be very efficient and quick, with low waste of powder paint.

Abstract: An apparatus for metering, mixing, and spraying liquids is provided. The apparatus includes a first storage chamber and a second storage chamber connected to one another via channels that permit the free flow of air between the first storage chamber and the second storage chamber so that the pressure in each of the chambers is equal. The channels are fitted with liquid flow limiting members for preventing the flow of liquid from the first storage chamber to the second storage chamber and from the second storage chamber to the first storage chamber. Liquid delivery tubes associated with each storage chamber permit liquid from the storage chamber to flow into a mixing chamber. In the mixing chamber, the two liquids combine to form a solution. The concentration of that solution is variably adjustable by means of a flow restriction member associated with the first storage chamber.

Abstract: A chemical foaming system for use in a floor cleaning machine has a foam generator and a delivery system upstream of the foam generator in communication with a source of pressurized fluid and a source of liquid cleaning solution. The delivery system delivers pressurized fluid and liquid cleaning solution to the foam generator. A dispensing system is disposed downstream of the foam generator for dispensing foam generated by the foam generator onto the floor being cleaned. The foam generator has a pair of independent foaming chambers in generally parallel flow relationship intermediate the delivery system and the dispensing system whereby a portion of pressurized fluid and liquid cleaning solution delivered to the foam generator by the delivery system flows into one of the foaming chambers. The remaining portion of the pressurized fluid and liquid cleaning solution delivered to the foam generator flows into the other foaming chamber.
