Having Connected Leading Edge And Separated Trailing Arms Patents (Class 24/616)
  • Patent number: 5131122
Abstract: A releasable buckle is described, made of molded synthetic plastic material and comprising a female part and a male part which snap-engages into a socket defined within the female part by means of a pair of longitudinal resilient arms provided with teeth which lock the buckle by cooperating with respective edges of a pair of lateral through slots formed within the female part. The male part is further provided with a central rigid arm cooperating with guide means of the socket within the female part and adapted to limit, in use, the deflection of the resilient arms. This rigid arm has a length such as to cooperate in an interfering manner when the teeth are in the engaged position within the slots, with resilient means provided upon a bottom wall of the socket of female part.

  • Patent number: 5099551
Abstract: A mechanism for releasably connecting the ends of a bracelet, necklace or watchband. The mechanism includes a male connector component slidably insertable into a female connector component. Two resiliently-biased arms on the male component ride along inturned flanges in the female connector, after which the arms spring outwardly to lock against interior side faces of the flanges. Two squeezable handles extend from the arms for moving the arms together, thereby enabling the male connector element to be withdrawn from the hollow female element.

  • Patent number: 5050276
Abstract: A magnetic clasp has two mirror image halves each of which is attached to the ends of a necklace. Each half has a magnetic shell and an inserted magnetic core. The shell has a cylindrical body with a cone-shaped end. The front of the shell has an open cavity for inserting the magnetic core. The front of the shell and magnetic core form a flat surface. The magnetic core is made of samarium cobalt or neodymium iron. Both are strong magnets and allow the clasp to be very small in size so that it is aesthetically pleasing and lightwise. The end of each half has an eyelet for connecting to a necklace. A conventional fastener can be soldered to one eyelet so that the clasp can be added to an existing necklace. A safety catch can be added to the clasp as a back-up safety feature for expensive jewelry.

  • Patent number: 4958420
Abstract: A plug-type clasp for pieces of jewerly, in particular for necklaces, composed of a housing in which a sleeve is movable under the force of a spring. The sleeve has a receiving opening into which a connecting element can be inserted through a front-end opening of the housing and locked there. Both the front-end opening of the housing and the receiving opening of the sleeve are eccentrically offset from each other, so that the connecting element can only be inserted into the housing, and locked there, only after the sleeve has been pulled back against the force of the spring. Removal of the connecting part can take place in the correspondingly reversed order. Activation of the sleeve for unlocking the plug-type clasp takes place by means of an operating button, laterally guided in a longitudinal hole of the housing, so that the actual connecting areas of the plug-type clasp for pieces of jewelry, in particular necklaces, remain free of pulling stresses during the operation of the plug-type clasp.

  • Patent number: 4815180
Abstract: A transferable jewelry clasp that can be worn with different chains or bands which has the shape of a ring or has a central opening and has an upper part and a lower part. These parts are connected with one another on one side by means of a hinge, and on the opposite side by means of a snap clasp. It can thus be opened and closed easily. In order to ensure that the jewelry clasp is not lost, two cams directed inwardly toward the central opening are attached to the upper part. Eyelets are attached to the ends of the chain, which are so dimensioned that their internal diameters are larger than the thickness of the jewelry clasp ring and smaller than the thickness of the ring plus the height of the cam. With such dimensioning, the chain and eyelets can only be attached to a position differing from the supporting direction on the upper clasp part, and the danger of loss is avoided, even if the jewelry clasp is opened involuntarily.

  • Patent number: 4590649
Abstract: An improved jewelry catch comprising a folded pin adapted to be received within a rectangular box for releasable, locking engagement therewith for stringing jewelry on a jewelry chain and securing opposite ends of the jewelry chain. The folded portion of the pin includes a resilient, angle tab which extends through an opening in the box when the pin is received therein, thereby prohibiting rotation of the pin within the box and unintentional disengagement of the pin therefrom. The shape of the pin and box and the size tolerances therebetween further impede the rotation of the pin within the box and the unintentional disengagement of the pin therefrom. The pin may be readily disengaged from the box for the purpose of threading the pin through a minute hollow passage in a piece of jewelry by manually deflecting the tab through the box opening and pulling the pin outward from within the box.

Abstract: A clasp is provided for a jewelry chain, particularly a chain adapted to hold interchangeable designer elements. The clasp has a male and a female member, the male member locking within the female member and being so sized that, when the clasp is opened, the interchangeable beads are easily slid over it and onto the chain; the female member is sized so as to prevent the decorator elements from being removed from the chain. The male member is preferably a spring which is depressed for insertion into the female member, the spring action causing a portion of the male member to lock with a portion of the female member.

  • Patent number: 4545095
Abstract: An extensible clasp is described for use with a watch strap of flat flexible material having at one end a portion formed with a loop fitted with a buckle and at the other end a portion providing apertures for the tongue of the buckle. The clasp comprises first and second elongated portions that are connected by a hinge pin. The outer end of the first elongated portion is pivotally mounted on one of two pins of a link element, the other pin being fitted in said loop after removal of the buckle. The second elongated portion consists of a flattened sleeve into which the apertured end portion of the strap is inserted and secured by a screw. The strap thus becomes continuous and is unlikely to slip off when being fitted round a wrist. To close the clasp, the two elongated portions are folded against each other and a hole near the outer end of the first elongated portion is pressed into locking engagement with a beak element on the second elongated portion.

  • Patent number: 4520537
Abstract: A gold jewelry clasp assembly is described, which includes a keeper for receiving a catch and retainer, wherein all of the elements are constructed to operate reliably over a long life time. The catch is formed of a tempered gold strip bent at its middle to form a folded leaf spring, and with one end of the strip bent into a loop around a pivoting wire retainer. The bending avoids a gold soldering operation on the strip which could degrade spring temper, and also permits welding of the retainer wire ends prior to attachment to the catch to facilitate heat sinking that minimizes loss of spring temper of the retainer. The keeper is formed of a drawn tub-shaped gold frame, with the edge that forms the opening of the tub-shaped frame, being cut away at opposite ends to leave a pair of projecting lips on opposite sides. A gold cover strip covers the opening of the frame, and the cover strip has a recess on either side that receives the frame lips in an interference fit.
