Abstract: An extensible clasp is described for use with a watch strap of flat flexible material having at one end a portion formed with a loop fitted with a buckle and at the other end a portion providing apertures for the tongue of the buckle. The clasp comprises first and second elongated portions that are connected by a hinge pin. The outer end of the first elongated portion is pivotally mounted on one of two pins of a link element, the other pin being fitted in said loop after removal of the buckle. The second elongated portion consists of a flattened sleeve into which the apertured end portion of the strap is inserted and secured by a screw. The strap thus becomes continuous and is unlikely to slip off when being fitted round a wrist. To close the clasp, the two elongated portions are folded against each other and a hole near the outer end of the first elongated portion is pressed into locking engagement with a beak element on the second elongated portion.
Abstract: A clasp for an ornament including a clasp body connected to one end of the ornament, and an engaging member connected to the other end of the ornament. The engaging member is adapted to be lockingly secured in the clasp body. The clasp body is divided into a housing and a cover having an ornamental portion such as a letter, mark and pattern, for ease of replacement of the cover.
Abstract: A connection for a jewelry band including a male clasp member and a female clasp member. A resilient detent member in the form of a leaf spring having a long tongue section extending from said male clasp member at a first end thereof and a short tongue section from said long tongue section at a second end thereof. Said short tongue section normally maintains an angular posture but resiliently deflective to lie flatly against said long tongue section. Said female clasp member has at least one peripheral wall forming a hollow body and an end wall to define an insertion chamber in cooperation with said hollow body. Said end wall is formed with a slot extending to permit insertion of said long and short tongue sections while flatly lying against each other and to divide said end wall into an upper wall section and a lower section.
Abstract: An improved interlocking chain fastener system to attach multiple ornamental chains having any size or length. The chain fastener system is designed with at least two male portions and at least two female portions on alternate sides of the fastener. The device allows for attachment of multiple conventional ornamental chains to a single fastener and allows the chains to hang in a tangle-free concentric pattern.
Abstract: A gold jewelry clasp assembly is described, which includes a keeper for receiving a catch and retainer, wherein all of the elements are constructed to operate reliably over a long life time. The catch is formed of a tempered gold strip bent at its middle to form a folded leaf spring, and with one end of the strip bent into a loop around a pivoting wire retainer. The bending avoids a gold soldering operation on the strip which could degrade spring temper, and also permits welding of the retainer wire ends prior to attachment to the catch to facilitate heat sinking that minimizes loss of spring temper of the retainer. The keeper is formed of a drawn tub-shaped gold frame, with the edge that forms the opening of the tub-shaped frame, being cut away at opposite ends to leave a pair of projecting lips on opposite sides. A gold cover strip covers the opening of the frame, and the cover strip has a recess on either side that receives the frame lips in an interference fit.
Abstract: There is described a security sealing system for selectively immobilizing two relatively movable parts, the system comprising a housing, a tunnel, into one end of which a seal element may enter, to latch resiliently with an insert which enters the tunnel from its other end. The device is applicable to postal envelopes, cabinets, freight containers etc.
Abstract: A jewelry clasp having a main body formed by a pair of symmetrical members mounted in a parallel spaced relation to form a laminated structure, each member including a closed loop at one end and a partial loop at the other end, the closed loop being connected to one end of a decorative chain and the partial loop being detachably connected to the other end of the chain and a detent type latch assembly mounted on the main body for locking the other end of the chain on the partial loop.
Abstract: A clasp or buckle is disclosed for several chains, strings of beads, pearls and like jewelry whereby the chains or strings may be arranged and fastened into various ornamental and multi-stranded closed loop configurations at the option of a user of the jewelry. The clasp or buckle includes a substantially hollow main buckle member having two parts hingedly attached to one another. The main buckle member receives and removably mounts a plurality of connecting members in a substantially parallel, substantially regularly spaced configuration. Ends of the connecting members form hooks, loops or eyelets to which respective ends of the chains or strings of beads, pearls and the like can be mounted.
Abstract: A jewelry clasp for a jewelry band having chain-link terminals comprises releasably interlockable male and female clasp members. Slip-on connection means are rigidly secured to the distal ends of the male and female members to provide a solderless arrangement for attaching the chain-link terminals of the clasp. Each slip-on connection means is formed from a helix having approximately 11/2 coiled turns so as to form an entrance opening into which the chain-link terminal can be inserted into linking engagement and secured without soldering or special tools. A rectangular blank for making the male clasp member includes an end notch for receiving the helix to be rigidly secured and a laterally projecting leg adjacent thereto adapted to become bulbous when heated and thus form the pin portion of a safety latch.
Abstract: An interchangeable end piece member for removably connecting a watchband to a wristwatch case so as to accommodate watchbands universally to watchcasings having various spacings and configurations between the lugs for spring bars of different lengths. The end piece member has at least one tongue which slides into a mating longitudinal groove in a retainer clip attached to the watchband. A resilient tab locks the tongue in the groove, with means to release the tongue by deflecting the tab.
