  • Patent number: 10421617
Abstract: A cantilevered screw assembly comprising a speed reducer to facilitate rotation of a screw. The speed reducer may be connected to a torque arm that is adapted to control or limit undesired movement (e.g., wobbling, orbital movement, etc.) of the screw during operation. In effect, one exemplary embodiment of a speed reducer may essentially float on a pivoting torque arm (and the shaft of the screw) such that the torque arm is adapted to limit undesired movement of the speed reducer and screw. As a result, an exemplary embodiment may eliminate the need for alternative drive systems or other means to control undesired movement of the screw. An exemplary embodiment may be particularly useful for light or infrequent duty or other small-scale applications to reduce the likelihood of a breakage of a screw or another portion of a cantilevered screw assembly (e.g., the bearing(s) or bearing assembly, the gears, etc.).

Abstract: The present invention is generally related to an apparatus having cutter elements for destroying articles such as paper sheets and a mechanism for advancing at least a top sheet from a stack of paper in a tray into the cutter elements for shredding. In one embodiment, the apparatus uses a rotatable feed roller to feed paper atop the stack to the cutter elements. The feed roller moves in an alternating manner between a lowered and raised position to engage and disengage the stack when advancing the paper therethrough. Alternatively, a rotatable cam may be used. In an embodiment, the apparatus uses a rotatable drum or rotatable belt with an internal vacuum to lift paper from the stack and feed into the shredder mechanism.

Abstract: A shredder intake limiting device having a pair of parallel bars, wherein the ends of the bars are supported by a pair of side supports. Each side support comprises a floor surface flanked by two upwardly-diverging sidewall surfaces. The angle of the sidewall surfaces is such that the bars will be prevented from separating beyond a desired limit when sheet material is being inserted downward into the shredder. When sheet material is being pulled upward during removal after a jam, the diverging angles of the sidewall surfaces will allow the bars to travel upward and the horizontal separation distance to increase, thereby allowing the jammed material to be easily removed.

The shredder mechanism includes a motor and cutter elements, and enables the articles to be shredded to be fed into the cutter elements. The motor drives the cutter elements to shred the articles. A cam mechanism is provided in the throat and is movable from a disengaged position to an engaged position responsive to insertion into the throat of articles above a predetermined maximum thickness threshold. In the engaged position, the cam mechanism engages the articles to prevent further insertion thereof into the throat, and in the disengaged position the cam mechanism is disengaged from the articles to permit further insertion thereof into the throat. The cam mechanism may be movable between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position, the cam mechanism is configured to block the throat.

Abstract: A roller press for grinding particulate material, such as cement raw materials, cement clinker and similar materials is described, the roller press (1) comprising two rollers (2, 3) rotating in opposite directions, where one roller is movably mounted relative to the second roller, and where the rollers (2, 3) between them form a roller gap (4). A feed system has at least one inclined plate section (5) for regulating the feeding of particulate material along the axial extension of the roller gap (4) and the inclined plate section (5), in the axial direction of the rollers, comprises at least two substantially parallel plates (6, 7), substantially positioned in the same plane, and independently movable back and forth relative to the roller gap (4). The pulp crushing mechanism (3) crushes the pulp sheet with a first crushing cylinder (312) and a second crushing cylinder (322).
