  • Patent number: 10987675
Abstract: An apparatus for reducing the size of a solid material into smaller particles having an implosion chamber for containing the solid material and creating turbulence and ultrasonic soundwaves. The soundwaves generated by a flail propeller bounce off the chamber walls to create sound frequencies causing the expansion of moisture particles in the solid material leading to implosion of moisture particles within the solid material. The implosion thereby results in reducing the size of solid material, wherein a separating section that receives the smaller material from the implosion chamber channels the coarser particles back into the chamber to go through additional disintegration process. The rotation of the flail propeller within the chamber causes the moisture particles of the solid material to oscillate at high frequency and expansion that disintegrates the solid material. During this process, the moisture content is converted into vapor.

  • Patent number: 9751088
Abstract: The rotational speed of the drum of an ore mill may be controlled variably over time. By rotating the drum during a first time interval at high speed, especially hard or dense particles are broken up by tumbling. At the same time, the discharge characteristics of the mill are adversely affected. In a subsequent second time interval, the drum is rotated at a slower speed, and the material is discharged more effectively, whereas the tumbling movement inside the mill is not achieved. The combination of said different modes of operation within short time periods in continuous operation may improve both the comminution as a result of a tumbling motion of the material and also the discharge of the ground material. By regulating the rotational speed with different target values within short time windows, different requirements for the movement behavior of the material to be ground and for the discharge characteristics of the ground material can be simultaneously optimized.

  • Patent number: 8783590
Abstract: An asphalt roofing material recycling system and method is used to recycle new and used (post consumer) asphalt materials, such as asphalt shingles, rolled roofing and tar paper that may include granules, fibers or other particles. The asphalt material, which may be in bundles, is broken up and separated and then provided to a cooled recycling vessel. Dry ice is added along with the asphalt material to be recycled. The dry ice removes any moisture present and super-cools the material making it brittle and easier to chip and break up. The recycle vessel includes a number of high speed shippers having tulip hear chipping teeth as well as one horizontal mixer element which stirs the material and makes sure all material is ground. The resulting course to fine powder can be separated by screening and stored as power or compressed into bricks or briquettes.

Abstract: An apparatus for separating and sizing particulate matter, comprising a main frame, infeed conveyor, collection conveyor and a screening assembly including a frame, screen, and an underscreen conveyor mounted underneath the screen. In exemplary embodiments at least one crusher is included. The apparatus converts configuration from a transport mode to an operating mode. Material deposited onto the infeed conveyor is moved forward into the screening assembly. Material falling through the screen is deflected by a deflector onto a collection conveyor. Material passing over the screen drops into the crusher and crushed material drops onto the collection conveyor. Material on the collection conveyor is conveyed to a discharge location. The apparatus components are arranged such that material moves in a uni-directional flow through the apparatus without reversing direction. The apparatus may be mounted on a mobilizing assembly, such as one including endless tracks or wheels, for portability.

  • Patent number: 8714361
Abstract: Materials in battery and electrochemical cells are separated in a form suitable for recycling by employing froth flotation techniques. Bulk materials, such as casings, are removed from converted battery scrap and the resultant pulp is subjected to froth flotation. Froth flotation agents, including frothers, collectors and/or depressants, are used to manipulate the hydrophilic and hydrophobic nature of the materials in the scrap. Hydrophobic materials are entrained in the air bubbles of the froth and float out of the froth flotation vessel while those that are hydrophilic remain in the vessel, thereby separating battery grid materials without resort to pyrometallurgical, energy intensive or other environmentally undesirable processes.
