  • Patent number: 8434705
Abstract: This invention relates to a shredding device having a driving unit driving a rotor including shredding tools on its periphery which for comminuting a material such as waste material and/or industrial residues, interact with a least one counter knife assembly that is arranged in a stationary fashion with respect to the machine housing during the shredding operation. The shredding device is characterized in that the counter knife assembly includes at least two counter knife bars which run approximately parallel to each other and are arranged one above the other in the rotating direction of the rotor, the counter knife bars, for the compensation of wear at the shredding tools and/or at the counter knife assembly, being arranged for an adjustment radially to the rotor axis by a mutually different degree by means of an adjustment device. A process for operating a shredding device is also described.

  • Patent number: 8408484
Abstract: True zero-clearance cutting on a commercial scale is provided via a cutting area including a sacrifice material that is relatively softer than the cutter. One example is a cutting system which is capable of cutting a material such as, for example, tape or paper, into a fiber or powder. The cutting system includes a cutting blade, typically a rotary cutter, and a sacrificial plate or round bar contacting the cutting blade. The contacting portion has a zero clearance during the cutting operation. A metering mechanism is also provided which is capable of metering the material at a predetermined rate to the cutting blade. A mechanism is also provided for incrementally moving the sacrificial blade towards the cutting blade to ensure that the zero clearance is maintained between the cutting blade and the sacrificial plate, even when the sacrificial plate begins to wear down due to usage.

Abstract: In a method for detaching a charge (5) which is stuck to the inner wall of a grinding pipe (1), the grinding pipe (1) is rotated in a targeted manner such that the charge (5) that is stuck is removed from the inner wall of the grinding pipe (1) as a result of multiple modification of the rotational speed of the grinding pipe (1) and, optionally, as a result of abrupt braking of the grinding pipe (1). Generally speaking, the material-dependent maximum angle of rotation F of the grinding pipe is not exceeded in order to avoid the charge that is stuck from falling in an uncontrolled manner. Abstract: A method, and method-implementing system structure, for metering the flow of material through the shredding zone in a rotary shear shredder, which zone is defined, at least in part, by confrontingly rotating knives that are carried on a pair of adjacent, power-driven, nominally matched-motion counter-rotating shafts. The method includes holding the speed and rotational direction of one of the shafts essentially constant while selectively varying, in a manner variably differentiating the relative rotational motions of the two shafts, the speed, and under certain circumstances also the direction, of rotation solely of the other shaft.

Abstract: A blade set associated with jaws for demolition equipment used to break railroad rails includes a bottom blade associated with a bottom jaw and a top blade associated with a top jaw, wherein the bottom jaw and the top jaw are rotatable relative to one another. The bottom blade includes two spaced-apart support rails separated by a cavity, while the top blade includes a single raised knife rail positioned and central to the cavity and rotatable toward the cavity. The top blade additionally may be marked with indicia, such as red paint, such that the machine operator may properly orient the top blade during a cutting operation to maximize safety. Additionally, the recesses may also be aligned and sized to engage the head and the foot of a rail such that tension and/or a bending moment is introduced between the head and foot of the rail.

Abstract: The present disclosure, in one aspect, relates to a milling apparatus having a cutter housing and feed chute, a rotary cutter, at least partially housed within the cutter housing and in communication with the feed chute, and a feed ram removably positioned within the feed chute for maintaining a workpiece against the rotary cutter. The feed chute and feed ram may be selectively positionable at one of several angular positions with respect to the rotary cutter. In this manner, the force applied by the feed ram on the workpiece is a function of the weight of the feed ram and the angular position of the feed ram with respect to the rotary cutter.

Abstract: A pulverizing grinder used in the industrial processing of partially processed, or raw, silicon ore to achieve finely powdered silicon or silicon compound. It involves several parts, primarily an electric motor and a disc and blade arrangement driven by the motor, to achieve a finely ground silicon powder material. The upper part of case contains the electric motor, which dives a shaft that extends to a lower part of the case. The revolving shaft of electric motor is connected with the main shaft inside the case. At least one tier of rotating disc is fastened to the bottom of the shaft. Each disc has an even number of blades, each of which is positioned by suitable anchor fixture. The grinding or pulverizing of the silicon material is achieved by the high speed rotation of the discs and the impact of the blades on the material.
