Abstract: An intelligent separation device has gas explosion, stirring, drying and negative pressure adsorption devices. The gas explosion device receives conveyed peanut materials with red coats to be removed, and the materials are subjected to gas explosion, so that the peanut kernels and the peanut red coats are preliminarily separated. The stirring device shifts the preliminarily separated peanut kernels and peanut red coats into the drying device. The drying device compresses and heating external air, transfers heat through hot air, and heats and dries the preliminarily separated peanut kernels and peanut red coats, so that the peanut red coats and the peanut kernels are fully separated. The negative pressure adsorption device collects the fully separated peanut kernels and red coats with different densities and masses in a negative pressure adsorption mode.

Abstract: A self-cleaning apparatus for sorting a mixture of materials is disclosed that comprises a material sorter and a gantry positioning system elevated above the material sorter. The gantry positioning system includes a longitudinal travel rail with a longitudinal travel rail carriage, a traverse travel rail with a transverse travel rail carriage connected to the longitudinal travel rail carriage running perpendicular to the longitudinal travel rail, and a vertical travel rail connected to the vertical travel rail carriage running perpendicular to the traverse travel rail. A cutter and, optionally, a picker, are connected to the vertical travel rail. The gantry positioning system can move the cutter and picker various directions to dislodge and remove material that may have accumulated on the sorter. Instead of a gantry positioning system, the apparatus may have a multi-axis arm.

Abstract: A method of processing waste carpet or matting material to separate constituent materials thereof, includes optionally drying the material and then cooling the material to a temperature at which at least one constituent material therein is embrittled. A mechanical force is applied to the cooled material causing the embrittled constituent material to break into fragments. Optionally, the material from the previous step is dried. The material is then separated to separate the fragments of constituent material from other constituent material. The carpet material can be initially shredded into coarse pieces. The procedure may be repeated optionally with different temperatures to selectively embrittle and fragment different components and facilitate their separation.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for treating waste in a mechanical or mechanical-biological waste treatment plant, comprising the following steps of: introducing waste-into the waste treatment plant at least one input point, homogenizing the waste by way of at least one agitator, determining the consistency of the waste in the waste treatment plant, adding water or waste which has a higher water content than the waste in the waste treatment plant in a first scenario, or removal of water or addition of waste having a lower water content in another scenario, transporting the introduced waste to at least one output point, removing the waste. Abstract: A combined tangential shear homogenizing and flashing apparatus for destructuring pretreated biomass comprises a housing connectable to a source of pressurized pretreated biomass, and a stator and a rotor mounted within the housing. The stator and rotor being confrontationally disposed and spaced apart by a non-uniformly dimensioned axial gap. The least axial dimension between the rotor and the stator defining a restriction to a biomass flow. In use, rotational movement of the rotor with respect to the stator imparts a tangential shear to a volume of pretreated biomass. The tangential shear homogenizes the volume of pretreated biomass while a pressure difference causes a partial phase separation of the homogenized biomass into vapor and liquid phases such that the pretreated biomass undergoes at least a three-fold total volumetric increase and a weight transition to a vapor of at least one percent (1%).

Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods of processing municipal solid waste in order to isolate a compostable product. The methods and system disclosed allow for municipal solid waste to be separated into an organic fraction and an inorganic fraction. The purity of the organic fraction may be enhanced in certain methods. The overall yield of organic material may be increased by subjecting inorganic material to further separation steps.

Due to the light weight of the biomass material, the material is transported between the shredding and grinding stages mechanically and pneumatically by a combination auger with air assist. The biomass material may include agricultural residues, such as corn stover. The process and equipment eliminates or minimizes damage to the carbohydrates in the biomass so as to maintain pre-grinding cellulose and hemi-cellulose levels.
Abstract: An environment-friendly corpse treatment apparatus comprises: a drying portion for removing moisture contained in a corpse; a pulverization portion for applying an impact to the moisture-removed corpse to pulverize the same into small pieces; and a foreign matter separation portion for separating a foreign matter contained in the pulverized corpse. The corpse loaded at the drying portion is dried in a vacuum state. The apparatus is environmentally friendly since a pollutant such as a toxic exhaust gas or dioxin is not generated, soil is not contaminated when a corpse is buried. A treated corpse is appropriate for natural burial or woodland burial since the treated corpse can be used as a nutrient. A corpse can be used as manure or feed if the corpse is animal waste.

Abstract: Apparatus for separating components of post-consumer carpet—pile, adhesive, and primary/secondary backings—may initially comprise spectrographic face fiber identification. Separating substantial portions of pile from backing comprises feeding carpeting into a rotating pinned drum, with separated pile U's dropping, while a residual composition, being primarily backing, travels with the drum, to be separated therefrom using vacuum pressure, with the composite backing being sent to a press. Vacuum pressure delivers the separated U's to a spinning perforated squirrel cage to remove dislodged pieces of adhesive, by vacuum pressure applied to an interior top portion of the cage to draw pieces therein. Rotating the perforated squirrel cage, which is sealed on the exterior using a belt, permits the U's to drop into a hopper. A mesh shaker box vibrates to separate any remaining backing from the pile U's. Hammers in a fibermill remove remaining adhesive attached to the separated pile U fiber.

Abstract: A magnetic strap for preventing the undesired passage of articles through a sink drain hole and into a garbage disposal includes a strap member having a first end and a second end, with mating fastening members provided at the first end and the second end for selectively securing the first end to the second end so as to form a loop. Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for selectively separating polyurethane foam and fiber from Automobile Shredder Residue (ASR). The apparatus includes a first separator, a second separator, and a third separator. The first separator primarily separates fine particles, such as dirt or glass pieces, from the ASR at a front portion thereof and separates large-sized polyurethane foam and fiber from the ASR at a rear portion thereof. The second separator grinds remaining materials after the primary separation of the first separator. The third separator separates medium-sized polyurethane foam and fiber from the remaining materials after the separation of the first separator and secondarily separates plastics, rubber, and other materials.

Abstract: Separating pile, adhesive, and primary/secondary backings of post-consumer carpet includes spectrographic fiber identification. Separating substantial portions of pile from backing comprises contacting a rotating pinned drum, with separated pile U's dropping, while a residual composition, being primarily backing, travels with the drum for subsequent delivery to a press. Dislodged pieces of adhesive are removed from separated U's by a spinning perforated squirrel cage utilizing vacuum pressure. A shaker table receives substantially separated U's upon a first screen. Eccentric motor(s) cause vibrations therein separating remaining backing and adhesive from U's, with the U's and adhesive falling through openings in the first screen onto a second screen, and with adhesive falling through openings in the second screen. The angle of the screens and frequency/direction of vibrations are adjustable to optimize a rate of production and a degree of separation.
Abstract: Systems and methods for processing and sorting a municipal solid waste stream are described herein. A system can include a processing sub-system configured to receive a municipal solid waste stream and to remove the non-processable waste, a processing apparatus configured and disposed to receive constituents of the municipal solid waste stream from the processing sub-system and reduce the size of the constituents of the waste stream to an average particle size of less than about ¾ inch, and separators configured to sort the waste stream into constituents based on density.
Abstract: Apparatus, system and methods of using the apparatus and system to manipulate fiber(s) into a chopper, winder or other fiber(s) processing equipment. By using the apparatus the operator(s) are freed up for pressing duties that will increase productivity and also create a safer workplace. The apparatus supports and constrains slowly or rapidly running fiber(s) and moves through a sequence of movements that reposition the fiber(s) into a path that places the running fiber(s) in the proper location for processing in the chopper, winder or other processing equipment and also places the running fiber(s) into a desired groove or valley on a separator roll or guide.
