  • Patent number: 5775651
Abstract: A device for holding containers, particularly plastic oil bottles, in the inverted position whereby the container may be completely emptied without the need for someone to hold the container the entire time. The invention comprises a pair of container lock plates, pivotally secured together, and each having an aperture approximately one and five-sixteenths inches in diameter; larger than the approximate one inch diameter of the neck of standard oil bottles. The lock plates further include a spring loaded clamp which is clipped over the edge of an oil funnel placed within the oil inlet tube of the engine to be serviced. After the invention is clipped into place on the oil funnel, the oil container is next inverted with its mouth and neck placed downward through the lock plate apertures. The lock plates are then pivoted in opposite directions, effectively decreasing the size of the opening and locking the oil container in place in an inverted position for emptying.

The claw includes flanges for can support and for engaging under the bead of a pail or bucket for prying off the cover of the pail or bucket.

Abstract: An elongated sheet metal bar of inverted V-shape cross-section is bifurcated at one end forming outwardly flared wings with an integral downwardly facing hook between the wings which hook is engageable with the rim of a paint pail while the wings contact the circumference of the pail below the rim to securely grasp the paint pail and hold it in upright position. The other end of the bar is inserted into a hollow rung of a hollow rung ladder with the weight of the pail causing the bar to frictionally grip the hollow rung. Serrations on the bottom of the inverted V-shape sheet metal bar adjacent the bifurcation assists in frictionally gripping the rung to secure the paint pail. A vertically mounted adjusting screw to the opposite end of the bar interiorly of the rung also facilitates locking of the bar to the ladder rung. A separate U-shaped sheet metal member functions as a wooden ladder adaptor by enveloping about a ladder side rail and hooking itself over a solid rung.

Abstract: A tensioning and attachment device comprises a bracket displaceably mounted in relation to a bar or a tube and a tensioning arm is pivotally connected to the bracket and comprises a handle portion and also two lugs, which act against the envelope surface of the bar or tube. These lugs are so shaped that upon actuation of the tensioning arm they firstly bring about displacement of the bracket in relation to the bar or tube, and in the end or final position they fix the bracket to the bar or tube. Preferably, the device is combined with a stand structure such as a display stand, and the foot or base of the stand may have resilient members in the shape of rubber blocks.

  • Patent number: 4139173
Abstract: A support device for use in forming scaffolding or for supporting a paint bucket on the rail of a ladder or the like, consists of a pair of opposed bracket members having substantially identical configurations adapted to receive the ladder support rail or post therebetween. A spring member is operatively engaged between the bracket elements to bias these elements apart to extreme positions. In this manner the bracket elements can be urged apart in order to permit adjustment of the position of the support device on the post. In the operative position of the device one of the legs of the support bar engages the support rail below the bracket elements, and is urged into engagement with that rail by a weight, for example a bucket of paint or a scaffold beam on the other of the legs, so that the bracket elements and support bar cooperate to hold the support device in a fixed position along the support rail.
