Patent number: 7032866Abstract: A support bracket for mounting an engine component to a surface, such as to a cylinder head or engine block. In an embodiment, the support bracket includes a base member, a shelf member and a spacer. The base member has a back portion with a shape that defines a forwardly facing channel. The spacer is shaped to be matably received in the channel, optimizing load distribution between the spacer and the base member. A bolt hole extends through the spacer and is aligned with a bolt hole in the base member. The shelf member is welded to the base member to permanently capture the spacer in the channel. Welding the spacer is unnecessary. The spacer may be made of powdered metal. The spacer provides a free length portion of the capscrew that mounts the bracket against a surface, the free length accommodating longitudinal stress on the capscrew.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2003Date of Patent: April 25, 2006Assignee: Cummins, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey J. The shelf retainer has a bridge portion and a shelf-retaining portion. The bridge portion extends outwardly from the front side of the base. The shelf-retaining portion extends generally vertically from a distal end of the bridge portion. The shelf-retaining portion is spaced from the front side of the base to define a rim-receiving recess between the front side of the base and the shelf-retaining portion. The shelf retainer is positioned relative to the shelf so that at least a portion of the peripheral rim is received within the rim-receiving recess.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2000Date of Patent: October 8, 2002Assignee: Contico International LLCInventors: Thomas Dickinson, Scott Holmberg

Publication number: 20020121070Abstract: A temporary support device for installing sheet material in a building construction is provided with a multitude of perpendicular surfaces and a pair of offset surfaces for temporarily supporting a variety of sheet materials in a variety of orientations. Countersunk through holes integral to the support device accept standard screw hardware for temporarily mounting the support device to the building substructure. The pair of offset surfaces provide clearance for loosely supporting the sheet material before final securement of the sheet to the building substructure. The support device may be manufactured out of lightweight material, such as, for example, aluminum, wood, or plastic, and may include cored out sections, thereby enhancing the utility and handling of the device. Materials that can be temporarily supported by the support device include, but are not limited to, sheetrock, insulation board, plywood, and particle board.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 1, 2001Publication date: September 5, 2002Inventor: Christopher Paul Hurlock

Patent number: 6402108Abstract: The present invention relates to a bracket for supporting either plank or wire shelving with the bracket mounted to a vertical support standard. The bracket contains a plurality of tabs, some of which extend in a downward direction and away from the main body of the bracket to form a series of notches. This tab and notch system allow the tabs to be inserted into the grooves in the vertical support standard which prevents dislocation of the bracket from the support standard. The bracket also contains an additional tab and notch to hold the rear of the longitudinal rod of a wire shelf in place. This tab may be bent forward to permanently lock the wire shelf into place. The bracket also, contains screw holes such that either plank or wire shelving can be mounted to it and has a front section that fits between the front longitudinal rods of a wire shelf to keep the wire shelf in place.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1999Date of Patent: June 11, 2002Assignee: Emerson Electric Co.Inventor: Lee Remmers
