Therefore, the display unit fitting section is led by the display unit so that the cluster module can be installed to a desired position of the concave section of the instrument panel easily.

  • Patent number: 5702078
Abstract: A substantially horizontal hand stabilizing member attached to a vehicle instrument panel adjacent to a plurality of switches. The hand stabilizing member protrudes outwardly away from the instrument panel and provides a support surface that is a first distance from the switches. The hand stabilizing member allows an operator to engage and move a movable portion of a selected switch with a first portion of his or her hand when a second portion of the operator's hand engages the support surface and stabilizes the operator's hand from movement relative to the switch. The hand stabilizing member includes indicium on identification markers that are substantially adjacent to respective switches, and the indicium represents a function associated with the respective switch. The hand stabilizing member of the preferred embodiment also includes tactile locating members adjacent to the switches to enable the user to non-visually identify the location of a selected switch.

  • Patent number: 5684670
Abstract: A control switch with a holder is to be provided which can simply and quickly be secured by one person to a variable-thickness fitting plate. To this end the rose (9) of the control switch has a longitudinal groove (11) and a transverse groove (12). The holder which can be fitted on the rose (9) consists of a lower casing (14), a securing ring (5) and an upper casing (23). The lower casing (14) and the securing ring (5) have matching pitches (20, 6) so that when the securing ring (5) is rotated via a toothed spindle (7) fitted off-center it is axially shifted. After the holder has been fitted on the rose, when the securing ring (5) is rotated, a partial thread (18) fitted thereto is rotated out of the longitudinal groove (11) into the transverse groove (12) and thus pressed by the simultaneous axial movement of the partial thread (18) against the limiting edge of the transverse groove (12) taking the form of a thread segment (13).

A base covers the housing front and has an opening through which the shaft extends. A pair of ears extend from the base outward of the peripheral wall on opposite sides of the shaft and lie in a plane parallel to the base. A resilient finger is positioned outward of the peripheral wall and has a tang at its end which projects forward of the base. A mounting plate has an opening to receive the shaft, a pair of mounts formed on opposite sides of the shaft opening and adapted to mate with the ears, and an additional opening adapted to receive the tang as the ears become fully mated with the mounts.

Abstract: This invention relates to a thermostat mounting arrangement suitable for use in a clothes dryer. Thermostat mounting arrangement includes a thermostat mounted to engage the inner and outer opposing sides of a surface supporting portion of the clothes dryer to sense temperature conditions in the clothes dryer. The mounting arrangement is characterized by an aperture passing through the surface supporting portion. The aperture has an enlarged central opening with four projection tab members extending into the central opening and two diametrically opposed slots extending radially outward from the central opening. The thermostat includes a temperature sensitive flat surface adapted for positioning within the central opening of the aperture slightly beyond the inner surface of the surface supporting portion of the clothes dryer. The thermostat has two resilient wings each having an arm extending generally toward and through a corresponding slot of the aperture.

  • Patent number: 5609414
Abstract: The invention provides a recessed lighting fixture having an outwardly extending housing flange about a lower end of the fixture housing and retaining clips mounted to the housing wall. The retaining clips have enlarged ends trapped within the housing and extending through axial slots so as to permit axial movement along the housing wall. Each retaining clip includes a spring arm biased to an open position in which the spring arm extends radially from the housing, part of the upper portion being flexible such that the spring arm can be depressed toward the housing wall. The fixture can thus be installed through a ceiling opening barely larger than the diameter of the housing. An adjusting screw is provided for adjusting the position of the retaining clip axially along the housing wall, which secures the housing in place by clamping the ceiling between the housing flange and the retaining clips.

  • Patent number: 5590858
Abstract: A support for mounting an electrical device box into an opening made in a panel. This support has an elongated bar-shaped member longer than the device box and two L-shaped members coplanar to and projecting from one side of the bar-shaped member. The distance between each one of the opposite ends of the bar-shaped member and the remote point of this bar-shaped member from which the remote L-shaped member projects is substantially equal to the height of the electrical box. In use, one can easily insert the bar-shaped member behind the panel through the opening made in the panel by first introducing one of the opposite ends of the bar-shaped member into the opening and moving this one end until the adjacent L-shaped member contacts the panel. Then, the support can be rotated so that the other opposite end of the bar-shaped member passes through the opening, such being possible because of the above mentioned distance selection.
