    Abstract: The cylindrical enclosure for the gauge mechanism includes a front portion with a transparent surface and a rearwardly extending side wall which terminates at an outwardly extending flange. One or more gaskets of appropriate aggregate thickness are selected and situated on the flange. The front portion fits snuggly into the panel opening with the gaskets adjacent the rear surface of the panel. The gaskets are selected such that the thickness of the panel plus the aggregate thickness of the gaskets equals the depth of the side wall. This results in the front surface of the gauge being coplanar with the front surface of the panel. In this manner, a single size gauge enclosure can be adapted to be flush mounted to panels having a range of different thicknesses.

The installation occurs by advancing a screw through a corner adaptor, into the instrument. The adaptors are attached to the periphery of a rectangular hole in the instrument panel, after the instrument has been inserted therethrough, so as to create an octagonal hole as is typically found in instrument panels. The corner adaptors are made up of a first plate and a second plate having a spacer region which is slightly narrower than the thickness of the instrument panel. When a screw is inserted through the first plate and the second plate, they are held together and adhere to the instrument panel which is inserted therein.

    Abstract: An interjoist hanger assembly for supporting items to be hung is formed of a pair of elongated tubular sleeves interfitting telescopically slidable one within the other. Supported at the distal end of each of the sleeves is an axial screw and a floating collar having circumferentially distributed axially extending prongs or teeth. The sleeves effect an interlock when collapsed whereby they can be rotated in unison for threading one end into an adjacent joist. When the sleeves are expanded, the opposite sleeve end can be similarly threaded into the opposite joist. With each threaded attachment, the prongs of the surrounding collar are drawn into a gripping engagement with the joist surface thereat.A saddle secured snap fit onto the outer sleeve includes side flanges to which an electrical outlet box can be mounted for attachment of an item to be hung.

A flexible retainer is provided for supporting the mounting segment, to grippingly engage that portion of the mounting segment which projects into the outlet box chamber.

    Abstract: A shuttle or recessed housing 11 for a vehicle radio and/or fixed recording player is disclosed. This shuttle is particularly designed to permit owner removal of such a unit 10 located in an attractive vehicle dashboard console 20 in which it is the desire that the release mechanism be totally or virtually concealed. A thin metal housing 11 conforms to the shape of the radio and tape cassette or compact disk player unit and has a narrow concealed edge flange on at least one edge of the front opening. Integral fingers 54 formed in the housing or shuttle 11 are bent outward to lock against the front panel or console 20. An antenna connection at the rear is provided with a pin 60 positioned directly behind the mating socket of the radio. Openings are present in at least the rear face of the shuttle 11 to allow the normal connectors of the radio 10 to engage mating connectors 52 in the shuttle 11.

When the modular spa control assembly 10 is assembled, the front flanges 74 on the chassis 34 are clamped between the front plate 36 and the flanges 48 on the sidewalls 44 of the housing 32, thus supporting the chassis 34 within the housing 32 without requiring an enclosed bottom. The control assembly 10 is quickly disassembled by unplugging the power cord 28 and the plurality of plugs 30, removing the fasteners 38 and the front plate 36, and taking the chassis 34 out of the housing 32.
