Abstract: Horizontal pneumatic shock absorbers are connected through gears and levers to convert the longitudinal control of the shock absorbers to vertical control of seat frames of vehicles. Particularly, a preferred embodiment of a resilient support has sufficiently low height to permit placement of the support between the seat and the frame of a motorcycle for supporting the seat at a normal level. The preferred embodiment has, in addition to a pneumatic shock absorber for support, a shock absorber applying an opposing force for controlling bounce. Also, spring couplings connect the levers for supporting the seat to provide resilience for cushioning rapid shocks of moderate intensity while the shock absorbers function more slowly for longer excursions.
Abstract: A vibration isolation device connected to a drag arm of a blocker door assembly in a jet engine thrust reverser unit. The isolation device providing for preload, travel and vibration dampening of the drag arm on the blocker door assembly.
Abstract: End fitting for the fuel assembly of a nuclear reactor comprising in per se known manner a device for holding the fuel assembly against an upper or lower plate of the reactor core, wherein the maintaining device is constituted by a plurality of rigid levers, having a first end and a second end, each lever being articulated on an axis A, a closed recess provided in the sides of a frame of the end fitting for each lever and elastic means contained in the recesses and exerting a restoring torque on the corresponding lever.
Abstract: A tiltable mounting with a tilt counterbalancing mechanism, the mechanism being connected between the tilting platform and the base and comprising a base connected member to which a slide is pivoted; the slide having an end restrainer fitted at each end; springs sandwiched between two plates slidable along the slide but not past the restrainers, plate position controlling arms pivoted to the tilting platform to force one of the plates; dependent on direction of tilt; to compress the springs against the other plate which is prevented from sliding by its associated restrainer. The ratio of the angular movement of the tilting platform and the slide being 2:1.
Abstract: A device having an arm which is pivotable around a first axle in a first plane of motion and is counterbalanced by means of a counterweight and wherein the first plane of motion is pivotable around a second axle which is perpendicular to the first axle. In order to permit the use of only one counterweight the counterweight is so coupled to the arm that, on pivoting of the arm, it moves along a straight line located in the first plane of motion, the counterweight and the center of gravity of the arm being on different sides of the second axle.
