  • Publication number: 20020011045
Abstract: A concrete form has a pair of opposed upstanding and spaced apart side panels. A space is defined between the side panels. Each side panel has a respective upper edge and a respective lower edge whereby a top opening is defined between the upper edges and a bottom opening is defined between the lower edges. At least one bottom soffit panel is coupled to the form and is movable between a first soffit position closing off the bottom opening and a second soffit position providing access to the space through the bottom opening. At least one transverse top beam is coupled to the form and is movable between a first top beam position across the top opening and a second top beam position providing access to the space through the top opening. A method of setting up the concrete form includes assembling the form, opening the top beam if closed, installing at least one steel reinforcing element within the forming space through the top opening, and closing and securing the top beam.

  • Patent number: 6322045
Abstract: An apparatus and method for the rapid perimeter screed bulkhead forming of concrete tilt-up wall panels are provided. The apparatus includes a unitary formboard support, a formboard, and a fastener. The unitary formboard support includes a base, which includes a fastener passageway through the base, and two upright walls connected to the base, which form an open channel. The unitary formboard support can be attached to a casting surface or concrete floor by the fastener which passes through the fastener passageway and secures the unitary formboard support. The bottom end of the formboard is fit within the open channel of the unitary formboard support and held in position by the upright walls.

  • Patent number: 5934036
Abstract: An insulated concrete slab assembly for use over expansive soils. A slab is cast in place by pouring concrete into preshaped insulating forms. The forms remain permanently in place and provide insulation to reduce heat transfer through the slab. The shape of the forms provides strengthening ribs on the slab. The ribs act as beams which allow the slab to bridge or cantilever over expansive soil between foundation walls. The forms are supported during construction by support members or legs which later prevent damage to the slab by eliminating or limiting the forces which can be applied to the slab by expanding soil.

  • Patent number: 5934820
Abstract: The present invention provides a system, for raising a manhole ring during construction or roads, that includes placing a generally tubular form on a manhole cone in an excavation, and a method and trimming/cutting tool for adjusting the height of the form. Preferably, the cutting tool is positioned inside the form and is rotated around to cut a ring of material off of the top of the form. The cutting tool is set at an elevation, indexed off of the pavement around the excavation, which results in the form being cut to a height that can support a manhole ring at a proper elevation to be flush with the pavement surface of a particular site. Once the manhole ring is placed on the trimmed form, a single pour of concrete may be done to create a concrete collar that fills and seals the vertical space between the manhole cone and ring. The form may include a stabilizing system for holding the form in place on the manhole cone.

  • Patent number: 5906076
Abstract: A removable support structure for concrete slab fabrication is described. A latch device secured to the ends of both shoring girders and shoring beams permits rapid and accurate placement of the shoring support across a span to be structured in concrete. Vertical shoring posts and supports are eliminated, with the added advantage of the plane of the shoring always being automatically in the plane of the floor being formed. Bearing shoes on the ends of corrugated deck members, secured to building girders, cooperating with straps at their other ends, accurately and securely positions the corrugated decking in place. After the concrete has hardened, the entire support structure, including the shoring girders, shoring beams, and corrugated deck members, are rapidly and efficiently removed, ready for re-use.
