In Situ Construction Engineering Or Building Type Patents (Class 249/188)
  • Patent number: 5791116
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a removable spacing device and method therefor, for use in the application of stucco to a building's exterior. The removable spacing device is comprised of a section of tape and a substantially triangle-shaped spacer, and is applied to the edge of a window frame, door frame, or similar structure prior to the application of a layer of stucco adjacent thereto. After the stucco layer has dried, the removable spacing device is removed, and the resulting space created by the device is filled with caulk or a similar weatherproofing material. This device and method prevents the formation of small cracks between a stucco layer and adjacent frame, which cracks are too small to be filled with caulk and which allow the damaging penetration of water into the stucco and underlying layers.

  • Patent number: 5647571
Abstract: A mold apparatus for forming concrete border stones has a unitary generally rectangular body with contiguous opposed longitudinal side walls, opposed outwardly curved end walls at each end thereof, an open bottom end, an apertured top wall, and an interior vertical wall extending transversely between the longitudinal side walls. The walls circumscribe generally rectangular longitudinally adjacent cavities for receiving concrete therein and generally rectangular openings in the top wall define generally rectangular longitudinally adjacent openings at an upper end of the cavities. An opening through a lower portion of the interior vertical wall joins the lower portion of adjacent ends of the cavities together. In a preferred embodiment the vertical wall is disposed closer to one end wall than the other to form a longer generally rectangular stone shape and a longitudinally adjacent shorter generally rectangular stone shape.

  • Patent number: 5382393
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming chamfered outside corners on a concrete product which uses a body made of molded material and having three intersecting perpendicular arms. Each of the arms has a triangular cross-sectional shape so that each arm forms a chamfered surface at two intersecting planar portions of the concrete product. The outside corner itself is formed by the intersection of the arms and is appropriately shaped to define the desired configuration. Planar forming members are assembled to create the desired cast concrete shape. Triangular chamfer forming members are secured to the form where two formed surfaces are to intersect. Where three surfaces would intersect to form an outside corner in the finished product, the molded body is secured to the planar forming members in an appropriate position to form the desired corner shape.

  • Patent number: 5301918
Abstract: A system for constructing concrete culverts is disclosed wherein reusable outer form and rebar supporting assemblies are set in place in an excavation and are used to form outer portions of the floor and outer walls of the culvert. Forming the outer walls of the culvert is facilitated by anchoring the lower regions of the form assemblies in the outer region of the floor as it is being poured by means of concrete anchors, which remain set in the concrete but are removable from the form assemblies. As a particular feature of this invention, the form assemblies are each provided with a protective wall spaced from the form assembly and adjacent walls of the excavation, forming a protective space where workers may work while being protected from collapse of walls of the excavation.

  • Patent number: 5290006
Abstract: A lightweight metal or plastic form that when collapsed can be installed on the inside of a temporarily suspended manhole casting and expanded by a mechanism having numerous arms connected at a center point and extending outwardly to spaced and positioned spring encasing brackets that compensate and adjust slightly the pressure that the arms project to the outer walls of a slotted circular shaped form. By a cam effect the handle locks into a over center position that is maintained without the aid of clamps or additional hardware so that the form will stay in position until the user lifts the handle upwardly which removes the device from the manhole and at the same time collapses the form. The inventions primary purpose is to provide a seal between a temporarily blocked up manhole metal casting and the manhole precast concrete riser rings so that cement may be applied around the outside of the manhole and vibrated into position without danger of any cement contaminating or plugging the sewer system.

  • Patent number: 5277573
Abstract: A ramp for the physically challenged includes three different types of sectional portions: a slab disposed at the interface of a level surface such as a floor or earth ground; one or more ramp portions, each having a sloping upper surface, disposed adjacent to one another; and a switch platform having a level upper surface. Forms used to fabricate the three different types of sections are provided. A form for fabricating the sloping ramp portion includes a bulkhead, outer panels, and a set of inserts having varying height. The inserts are used to vary the resulting depth of the side panels of the concrete ramp portions. An upper surface of the bulkhead is sloped downwardly in a plane parallel to that of the upper surface of the concrete ramp portion. Apparatus is provided to elevate the front portion of the assembled form so as to place the upper surface of the bulkhead in a horizontal plane that is parallel to the plane of the level surface upon which the form rests.

  • Patent number: 5194165
Abstract: A finishing cap for concrete formwork is described herein for providing smooth finished concrete joints and corners while reducing the time, labor, expense, and expertise required to make such a joint. The finishing cap provides two non-parallel edges forming an angle, wherein the concrete formwork is fitted into the angle so provided. The angle between the edges of the finishing cap is provided so as to be somewhat smaller than the final desired angle of the finished concrete joint. A pinching action is created between the edges of the finishing cap and the formwork, and this pinching action prevents stones and concrete from entering the joint and roughing up the final finished joint. After the concrete is poured, smoothed and set, the finishing cap may be easily removed and a smooth finished corner is produced. The invention is described in relation to concrete formwork for stairs and walls.

  • Patent number: 4574017
Abstract: A semi-rigid pool coping form board of the type which is temporarily adhered on the generally vertical surface of a pool mouth-bounding structure to project a uniform height above the generally horizontal upper surface of that bounding structure is provided where its basal feet adjoin its coping inner edge-molding concave surface with an integral bead. At regular intervals, the bead is replaced by a spring clip with a similarly shaped nose. Each spring clip is rooted in the foam board to a standard depth with the aid of a stop shoulder and an adhesive. By locating in, snapping into and filling the liner track channel mouth the bead/spring clip structure automatically locates the form boards heightwise in relation to the pool mouth-bounding structure, provides an easy to use and effective secondary securement system for the form boards and keeps the pool liner track channel so free of cement that any clean-up needed is minor.
