  • Patent number: 8959862
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and a forming system that reduces the hydrostatic pressure caused by casting freshly mixed concrete or other cementicious material into vertical forms. Reducing the hydrostatic pressure in forms enables relatively weak materials to be used as form boards and minimizes the amount of bracing necessary to support the form boards—both of which lead to lower construction costs. The method uses the highly thixotropic properties of no-slump or low-slump concrete which enable the concrete to be quickly changed from a semi-solid state to a liquid and back to a semi-solid state numerous times before it hardens and without affecting the concrete's quality. Since hydrostatic pressure is only present when a liquid state exists, minimizing the amount of liquid concrete in vertical forms will also minimize the hydrostatic pressure present.

  • Patent number: 7114695
Abstract: An improved, lightweight, portable, and self-contained concrete form for fabricating tilt-up concrete walls is provided. The form includes a frame made from metal frame members joined at their ends with the frame members forming the sides of the frame. The frame members may be channel shaped with their channels facing inwardly. A reinforcing mat comprising an array of crisscrossed rebars is disposed within the frame and is held in place with a plurality of brackets on the ends of at least some of the rebars and welded to respective frame members. The rebar mat is sized to be positioned in the mid portion of the frame and the brackets on the ends of the rebars are slid outwardly into and attached to the frame members by spot welding. The brackets are then spot welded to the ends of their rebars to form a rigid, lightweight concrete frame.

  • Patent number: 6948289
Abstract: The invention involves a manner of fabricating 3D construction forms by preparing first and second standard sized panels with a predetermined pattern of perforations and assembling same in spaced apart relationship by connecting the panels together with connectors designed to engage the perforations in the panels. The perforations of the panels are arranged in a specific pattern suitable for the assembly and use of the construction forms by means of an apparatus designed to form the perforations. The method also uses apparatus which assist in the orientation and alignment of the connectors to engage the panels. Modifications of the panels and connectors will allow the formation of 3D construction forms with corners of various configuration.

  • Patent number: 6866239
Abstract: A form assembly for forming a concrete structure during drying of the concrete. The form assembly is formed of an elongated plastic form having a front wall for engaging the concrete and a rear wall. The front wall is spaced apart from the back wall to define a pocket for receiving at least one connecting member. The connecting member is secured in the pocket to project a distance beyond an end of the form. A slidable stake holder may also be provided to slide in a C-shaped pocket in the form. The stake holder has right and left flanges that abuttingly engage the rear wall and at least one preformed nail hole is provided in each of the right and left flanges.

  • Patent number: 6832456
Abstract: A frame unit (11) used in the construction of a formwork module. The frame unit (11) is formed by connecting together rectangular loops of wire (12, 13) to form a rectangular block shape. Panels (60) and reinforcement (16) are connected to the frame to make a formwork module, with the reinforcement (16) extending beyond the sides of both the frame unit (11) and the panels (60). When a number of modules are connected together to form formwork for the desired building structure, the reinforcement (16) overlaps to form a continuous line of reinforcement from one module to the next.

  • Patent number: 6817857
Abstract: A main frames having bottom and top frame parts for concrete molding machines of the kind which are used in making slabs or blocks for covering surfaces and erecting walls are usually made by welding together cut standard steel sections of the types HEM, RHS, UNP, etc. The requirements to materials and welds at the making of bottom frames of this kind are high due to the fact that welded structures subjected to vibration only has 10-15% of the basic material strength in the welding zones. Thus, the main frame has a bottom frame part (40) formed of two flame cut bottom plates (42, 44) arranged in parallel as an upper plate (42) and a lower plate (44) and forming the basic shape of the bottom, the bottom plates (42, 44) being interconnected by at least two longitudinal plates (46, 48) and a number of transverse plates (50, 52, 54). In this way, substantial savings are achieved as the main frame can be made with fewer or no welds in the critical areas, or with welds of a lower class.

  • Patent number: 6767154
Abstract: A turnbuckle device (10) for clamping concrete shell elements (35, 36) comprises stationary claws (14, 15) and pivotable claws (24, 25) which can be clamped with the stationary claws (14, 15) via a wedge (28) on two neighboring concrete shell elements (35, 36) in that the claws (14, 15, 24, 25) engage in profilings on the frame of the concrete shell elements (35, 36). The stationary claws (14, 15) have archings (18) which engage behind transverse struts (34) or longitudinal struts (33) of a concrete shell element (36). The turnbuckle device (10) is displaceably held on the concrete shell element (36) via the archings (18). If the claws (14, 15, 24, 25) are within the concrete shell element (36), the turnbuckle device (10) can be displaced on the concrete shell element (36) in a longitudinal direction of the transverse strut (34 ) only that far that the turnbuckle device (10) does not project over an outer edge (39) of the concrete shell element (36).

Abstract: Lightweight, reinforced, non-biodegradable, tubular plastic footing form members and assemblies which may contain stake-engaging bores and/or are nailable to each other and/or to supporting stakes. The form members are water-repellant to resist absorbing and bonding to wet concrete compositions so that they can be removed and cleaned for repeated reuse. Alternatively they can be left in place, since they are inexpensive and non-biodegradable, and can support a porous drain conduit adjacent the formed footing.

  • Patent number: 6676102
Abstract: A modular form panel and a method of employing the same are provided for use when forming a rectilinear concrete column form. The form panel comprises a first side edge and a second side edge, with the first side edge having a plurality of attachment holes arranged in a plurality of vertically oriented gage lines. The form panel also includes a top edge and a bottom edge extending between the first and second side edges, and has a generally planar interconnecting skin, with the skin having a plurality of attachment holes arranged in a plurality of vertically oriented gage lines. Thus, a plurality of like panels may be arranged to define a rectilinear column form of predetermined cross-sectional dimensions by securing the first edge of the panel to the skin of an adjacent like panel by attaching a selected one of the first edge gage lines to a selected one of the skin gage lines on the adjacent like panel.
