  • Patent number: 9038986
Abstract: A valve assembly having a valve-seal on a valve member that moves between an open and a closed position within a valve support housing for controlling fluid flow, particularly for use as a shut-off valve. In many embodiments, advancing the valve member sealingly engages the valve-seal with a valve seating area of the housing to close the valve and shut-off fluid flow through the housing, while retracting the valve member moves the valve-seal away from the seating area to allow fluid flow around the valve-seal and through the valve-seating area. In many embodiments, the valve member includes a proximal handle and angled ramp that engage with a helical ramp of the housing to translate rotation of the handle into axial movement of the member between open and closed positions.

  • Patent number: 6874999
Abstract: An exemplary device and method for microfluidic transport is disclosed as providing inter alia a passive check valve (100), a fluid inlet channel (210), a fluid outlet channel (220) and a pumping cavity (240). The fluid inlet channel (210) is generally configured to flow a fluid through the check valve (100). The check valve (100) generally provides substantially passive means for preventing or otherwise decreasing the incidence of purged outlet fluid re-entering either the pumping cavity (240) or the fluid inlet channel (210). Accordingly, the reduction of backflow generally tends to enhance overall pumping performance and efficiency. Disclosed features and specifications may be variously controlled, adapted or otherwise optionally modified to improve micropump operation in any microfluidic application.

  • Patent number: 5992440
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel faucet with a non-circular slider assembly to which a resilient seat-washer is attached. In a preferable embodiment of the invention the slider assembly has a hexagonal cross-section. In embodiments of the invention the slider assembly is driven by a rotatory stem operated with a handle. The rotatory stem is provided with a helical groove mating with a faucet body of a complementary shape so that upon rotation of the stem the slider assembly is advanced towards or withdrawn from a sealing seat. Thus, when the handle of the stem is rotated by a user, the stem and the hexagonal slider assembly associated with it, are moved by the interacting force generated between the pair of helical threads, towards or away from the seat depending on the rotation direction.

Abstract: Valve apparatus for controlling flow of particulate material, such as sand or other abrasive material, from a tank or hopper. The valve has a unitary plunger which is movable axially with respect to a lateral particulate material inlet between positions closing and opening the inlet, the plunger being moved by rotation of a threaded portion of the plunger through an internally threaded cap or bonnet opening. The valve body passage through which the plunger is disposed, and the plunger itself, are formed to have abrasion-resistant surfaces. A lateral air pipe nipple sealed to the valve body receives the abrasive material flowing through the valve for use in sand blasting operations.

  • Patent number: 4052998
Abstract: A three way cock for filter press plates comprising a cock body defining a cylinder portion, a foot portion extending parallel to the cylinder portion, for applying the cock to the side of the plate, and a flange portion connecting the cylinder portion and foot portion through which extend a pair of fluent passages that connect the bore of the cylinder portion, and upper and lower ports formed in the cock cylinder portion with correspondingly located fluent passages of the plate. The cock cylinder portion has reciprocably mounted in same a spool valve member that shifts longitudinally of the cylinder portion under the action of opposed cam surfaces formed in the cylinder portion, and an end cap received over the upper end of the cylinder portion through which the valve member extends for keying connection to an operating knob for turning the valve member to move it between the three operating positions of the cock.
