  • Patent number: 6899171
Abstract: An actuator system for shifting a control device that is pressure-loaded in the direction opposite the shift direction. The actuator system comprises an actuator element capable of being axially moved in the shift direction within a system enclosure by a rotating spindle of an advance mechanism. The rotating spindle is connected to a rotating sleeve that is pivot-mounted in the system enclosure and surrounds the rotating spindle. The rotating sleeve is locked in position in the direction opposite the direction of advance rotation of the rotating spindle by a volute spring. The volute spring is associated with an emergency release unit for resetting the actuator element against the shift direction. The emergency release unit comprises a tensioning sleeve for the volute spring. The tensioning sleeve rotates between a tensioned and a relaxed position and is pressure-loaded in the direction of its relaxed position. The volute spring is releasably retained in the tensioning sleeve's tensioned position.

  • Patent number: 6886546
Abstract: A rotary arm-actuated pintle valve assembly having a pintle valve seat, a pintle shaft, and a valve head forming a pintle valve for regulating flow of gas through a valve body. The shaft extends through a port in a wall of the body. A rotary-arm actuator mounted to the body includes an oscillating motor and shaft. An arm mounted on the motor shaft engages the outer end of the pintle shaft and causes the pintle shaft to reciprocate to open and close the valve. The port permits the pintle to move back and forth radially during actuation of the valve. A floating bearing assembly at the port receives the pintle and slides back and forth as directed by the pintle, all the while maintaining a pneumatic seal around the pintle. A centering element is provided within the valve body to guide the pintle in mating the head with the seat.

  • Patent number: 6722631
Abstract: A valve device has an outer sleeve with a first end to be secured in an orifice of a container. A second end is releasably attached to a receptacle. Walls define a generally cylindrical support passage which extends from said first end to said second end. An inner sleeve is within the support passage with walls defining a generally outer surface adjacent the walls of the outer sleeve. The walls rotatably support the inner sleeve and define an internal through passage. A butterfly valve member is in the through passage. • Patent number: 6571562
Abstract: For regulating engine exhaust and for environmental reasons, aircraft users are restricted from expelling engine fluids from engines onto airport ramps. All such fluid must be collected and subsequently burned or properly disposed of. The present invention installs witness drain valves in the drain lines between seal cavities and environmental collector tank. The witness drain valves have a small reservoir that will retain a known volume of fluid. As fluid passes from a leaking seal to the collector tank, a small sample is captured in the witness drain valve. Once the witness drain valve reservoir is full, the leaking fluid then flows on to a collector tank, which is also provided. During regular engine maintenance, technicians push on a spring loaded drain valve located on the witness drain valve reservoir. If fluid is detected, the seal is beginning to leak, and corrective maintenance may be scheduled while the leak rate is still within operational limits.

Abstract: A diverter valve comprises a body defining a first, a second, and a third orifice, a flipper operably positioned to substantially prohibit flow through one of the first, the second, and the third orifices, and a flipper drive mechanism drivably coupled to the flipper. The flipper drive mechanism comprises a motor, a cam drivably coupled to the motor and including a cam position indicator, a follower drivably coupled to the cam translating rotational motion of the cam into reciprocal motion to drive the flipper, and a motor control circuit in sensory communication with the cam position indicator. The motor control circuit couples an external source of electrical power to the motor to energize the motor to drive the cam to a first and a second predetermined position. The motor control circuit includes a first controllable switch in series with a first position switch. This first position switch opens in response to the cam position indicator indicating that the cam is at the first predetermined position.
