Patent number: 4687031Abstract: A pair of flapper valves are mounted in parallel to control the flow of a fluid into a reservoir. The flapper valves are opened by a first rotatable cam which is rotated through one or more complete revolutions when a float control switch in the reservoir is opened thereby indicating a drop in the level of fluid in the reservoir. Each complete revolution of the first cam actuates an impulse switch for a short duration. The impulse switch energizes a low speed memory motor and increments the output shaft of the motor. Each increment corresponds to one complete revolution of the first cam and, therefore, one unit of a fixed quantity of fluid passing through the valves. The output shaft of the memory motor rotates a second adjustable cam that controls the actuation of a switch which in turn controls a dispenser for dispensing a chemical additive into the fluid added to the reservoir.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 1986Date of Patent: August 18, 1987Assignee: Autotrol CorporationInventors: Paul R. Patent number: 4460153Abstract: A lever operator for use primarily with valves of the plug type in which a tapered plug is raised to unseat associated slips and then rotated to a valve open position during opening of the valve and is rotated to a valve close position and lowered to seat the associated slips for closing the valve. The lever operator comprises an elongated lever arm having an eccentric cam at one end thereof connected to the trunnion of the valve to which the invention is assembled and also comprises a unique dual slot gate mechanism which houses the lever arm and restricts the motion of the arm to the requisite vertical and rotational movement which must be carried out in the appropriate sequence to properly operate the tapered plug mechanism of the valve.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1981Date of Patent: July 17, 1984Assignee: Aerojet-General CorporationInventor: Kenneth R. Patent number: 4448391Abstract: A handle mounted adjacent one end of a centrally bored body when squeezed toward the body turns a stem through about 22.degree.. The interior of the stem is cut away so that all that remains is a 90.degree. sector which functions as a cam. On the opposite end of the body is an inlet port. A reciprocable actuator has a seat at one end which is biased to close the inlet port. The opposite end of the actuator engages the cam. Vanes on the actuator center the actuator relative to the bore of the body and permit fluid to pass from the port past the stem when the handle is depressed. When the handle is up, the cam is positioned so that the end of the actuator moves forward by spring and water pressure force to close the valve. When the handle is depressed, the cam turns to force the stem back to unseat the valve and because the stem is cut away for approximately 270.degree., fluid flows around the stem and out of the discharge port.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 1983Date of Patent: May 15, 1984Inventor: Richard E. Patent number: 4404987Abstract: A trip cock device including a pilot valve actuable by a trip lever, when the train on which the trip cock is mounted passes over a trip arm secured to the track, for causing a release valve in the trip cock to be opened and opening brake pipe pressure to atmosphere, at an emergency rate, for effecting an emergency brake application. Axial displacement of the pilot valve, along with a stem thereon, causes a groove in the stem to be engaged by a detent member for securing the trip cock in open disposition until the detent is released manually.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1981Date of Patent: September 20, 1983Assignee: American Standard Inc.Inventors: Robert J. Patent number: 4385641Abstract: A three-passage valve comprising (1) a body with a main passage (10) and two secondary passages (12,13), each of the secondary passages being fitted with a respective closure member (2,3) and the valve as a whole being provided with a single, common actuator unit (6) to operate the closure members in such a manner that the valve can occupy any one of three positions: a first position in which the main passage is in communication with a first one of the secondary passages while the other secondary passage is closed; a second, or intermediate, position in which both of the secondary passages are closed; and a third position in which said first passage is closed while the main passage is in communication with said other secondary passage.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1981Date of Patent: May 31, 1983Assignee: Compagnie Industrielle des Telecommunications Cit-AlcatelInventors: Michel Albertin, Lucien Lavorel

Patent number: 4368832Abstract: A fluid dispensing valve having a casing with a conduit therethrough with a valve seat at one end. A valve element on a deformable resilient diaphragm seals the valve seat when closed. A lever or arm is used to displace the valve element, against the biasing force of the diaphragm to allow fluid flow.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 1980Date of Patent: January 18, 1983Inventor: Louis J. Patent number: 4352483Abstract: A mechanism for providing differential control of the opening of the throttle valve which controls the amount of air introduced into the induction manifold of an internal combustion engine. The angle of opening of the throttle valve changes with a predetermined law of variation with respect to the displacement of a member controlled directly by the throttle pedal; this member has cam faces formed thereon for successive engagement by different rollers spaced along a transmission member the angular displacement of which is directly related to the angular displacement of the throttle valve. Transmission of movement from the transmission member is by means of meshing toothed sectors providing a fixed ratio, or by way of direct connection to the butterfly spindle.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1980Date of Patent: October 5, 1982Assignee: Fiat Auto S.p.A.Inventor: Stefano Iacoponi
