A valve seating member is supportable by a spring stop portion of the valve stem, and with spring biasing of the valve stem, is urged in restricting or sealing relationship with the valve seat, the valve seating member having a valve seating portion of a selected diameter to permit a predetermined maximum flow rate through the valve seat. A stem modulator assembly is provided to move the valve stem in response to a characterizing linkage assembly. Valve setting is provided by an indicia plate and an indicator pin supported by the valve stem.

The valve is adapted to receive and retain the fluid conduits and includes, for each of the conduits, a toggle mechanism comprising a piston and a toggle. The piston and toggle can be latched to pinch the associated fluid conduit to a non-conducting state or may be latched with the conduit in a fluid conducting state. An actuator arm is selectively positioned over the toggle mechanisms and is displaced so as to actuate the toggles from one state to another, thus changing the state of fluid conduction through the associated flexible conduit. In the embodiment disclosed herein, the fluid conduits are arranged about the periphery of an annular valve body and the actuator arm is pivoted by means of the stepper motor over the toggle mechanisms.

    Abstract: A pair of flapper valves are mounted in parallel to control the flow of a fluid into a reservoir. The flapper valves are opened by a first rotatable cam which is rotated through one or more complete revolutions when a float control switch in the reservoir is opened thereby indicating a drop in the level of fluid in the reservoir. Each complete revolution of the first cam actuates an impulse switch for a short duration. The impulse switch energizes a low speed memory motor and increments the output shaft of the motor. Each increment corresponds to one complete revolution of the first cam and, therefore, one unit of a fixed quantity of fluid passing through the valves. The output shaft of the memory motor rotates a second adjustable cam that controls the actuation of a switch which in turn controls a dispenser for dispensing a chemical additive into the fluid added to the reservoir.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a gate valve which is moved to open position by an extendible and retractable, fluid-operated actuator, and which is moved to closed position, upon exhaust of operating fluid, by coil springs which urge follower parts reciprocable with a stem on the gate, and which extend from the valve body into a housing connected on the valve body, into engagement with cam surfaces on the housing. The cam surfaces are so arranged that the coil springs initially move the gate from open toward closed position with a relatively small force, and then move it into fully closed position with a force which is sufficiently larger to shear a wire line or other obstruction in the flowway of the valve body which would otherwise prevent closing of the gate.

    Abstract: A handle mounted adjacent one end of a centrally bored body when squeezed toward the body turns a stem through about 22.degree.. The interior of the stem is cut away so that all that remains is a 90.degree. sector which functions as a cam. On the opposite end of the body is an inlet port. A reciprocable actuator has a seat at one end which is biased to close the inlet port. The opposite end of the actuator engages the cam. Vanes on the actuator center the actuator relative to the bore of the body and permit fluid to pass from the port past the stem when the handle is depressed. When the handle is up, the cam is positioned so that the end of the actuator moves forward by spring and water pressure force to close the valve. When the handle is depressed, the cam turns to force the stem back to unseat the valve and because the stem is cut away for approximately 270.degree., fluid flows around the stem and out of the discharge port.
