Patent number: 4930752Abstract: The screening or security fence structure of this invention includes a plurality of spaced I-beam vertical support posts with standardized fence panels placed between them. While each fence panel is securely mounted to the I-beam posts, it is also firmly and contiguously connected through the posts to adjacent panels, so that the entire fence structure is linked together. By this configuration, an impact force on one of the fence panels is distributed along the fence. Additionally, the vertical side members of each fence panel frame abut the inside surfaces of the I-beam posts. If a fence panel is struck by a moving vehicle, the vertical frame member will jam against the I-beam flanges thus preventing the fence panel from breaking away and causing a safety hazard.Additionally, the fence fabric mounting hardware is secured within the I-beam channels thus reducing possible vandalism. In an alternative embodiment, a cable may be run the length of the fence inside the horizontal fence panel frame members.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 1989Date of Patent: June 5, 1990Inventor: John F. In the preferred embodiment the safety barrier is placed around the perimeter of a pool to prevent the unauthorized entrance into the pool. Because of the placement in a potential humid area, the preferred embodiment provides that the vertical support members and the panel fasteners are made of aluminum; the restraining panel is made of polycoated nylon to provide a longer life for the safety barrier. When the fence is not needed, it is simply removed by taking the vertical support members from the sleeves and folding the fence into a storable position.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1981Date of Patent: April 19, 1983Inventor: Robert E. Patent number: 4369953Abstract: The invention provides a new fence system permitting the construction of privacy fences; perimeter fences; boundary fences and rail fences using a small number of different fence elements. These elements consist of a hollow elongated post/rail element of semi-octagonal transverse cross-section; an end cap for the element when used as a post; an L-shaped connecting bracket; a panel element and an end cap therefor; a clip for fastening panel elements to the rails; closure elements for the rails and posts that also locate and hold the panels when they are engaged in slots therein. The panels are provided near to their center with a plurality of spaced stiffening walls to resist buckling under heavy loads.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1981Date of Patent: January 25, 1983Inventors: Waldemar H. Patent number: 4357000Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved ornamental integrally molded plastic fence section. The fence section generally includes a pair of substantially parallel stringers with a plurality of pickets formed integral with the stringers. Said pickets being oriented substantially perpendicular to the stringers. Each stringer has a plurality of identical spaced ears formed integral with one end. Each of the ears has a rod aperture extending therethrough. The rod apertures in the ears on one end of a stringer are aligned with rod apertures in ears on the other stringer. A slot is formed in each ear extending from the exterior of the respective ear to the respective aperture. Each slot in each ear on one end of the section is aligned with the other slots in the other ears on that end of the section. A second plurality of supports is formed integral with the other end of each of the stringers. Each of the supports has a height less than the distance between adjacent ears in the first mentioned plurality.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1980Date of Patent: November 2, 1982Assignee: Custom Plastics, Inc.Inventors: Cosmo N.
