  • Patent number: 5167756
Abstract: The apparatus joins two glass panels (4, 5) by injecting a strand of an initially pasty and subsequently solidifying compound along the edge of the pane into the intermediate space between the two initially unjoined glass panels. It has a horizontal conveyor, which has supporting or holding elements (6), which hold the glass panels (4, 5) parallel to each other and spaced apart, it being possible for the supporting or holding elements (6) acting on one of the glass panels (5) to be removed individually in sequence or in groups from said glass panel by an actuating device (7), thereby allowing a nozzle to be moved uninterruptedly between the two glass panels (4, 5) around the edge of the panel by an automatically operating handling apparatus (30), and wherein the nozzle can be swiveled about an axis running at a right angle to said panels.

The battery in particular comprises one or several cells enclosed within the housing, with each cell containing electrolyte and monopolar plates and/or bipolar plates separated from one another by separator plates, and being coated with positive and/or negative active mass, in addition to the requisite electrical connectors interconnecting the cells and/or plates. The envelope structure of the storage battery is produced by casting with electrically-insulating an electrolyte-impermeable material, using in the casting the cells of the storage battery at an inner mold, and separately-constructed mold structure as an outer mold. Wall thickness of the housing of the storage battery is defined with the aid of a spacer structure remaining inside the cast.

  • Patent number: 4981629
Abstract: A combined caulk application-striking tool is shown which is an elongated tube having a rearward end, and a forward end, the forward end having an upper wall, lower wall and two side walls. These walls are generally trapezoidal in cross section, and the upper and lower walls are substantially straight in cross section. The forward end of the elongated tube is inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis of the tube, from the upper wall rearwardly down to the lower wall. The tool may be used to apply caulk with the configuration forcing the caulk into the joint or opening and smoothing it. The tool may be also rotated so that the upper wall of the forward end is perpendicular to the area to be sealed, further forcing caulk into the joint or opening and providing for a flattened surface of the caulk.

Abstract: A process for filling the edge joints of insulating glass by introducing a sealing compound into the edge joint from at least one filling nozzle moved along the edge joint. The depth of the edge joint is detected, and the velocity at which the filling nozzle is moved along the edge joint is slowed down in case of a deeper edge joint and increased in case of a less deep edge joint. The amount of sealing compound conveyed through the filling nozzle per unit time is detected, and the velocity with which the filling nozzle is moved along the edge joint is reduced in case of a reduced delivery output and increased in case of an increased delivery output.

Abstract: On a track for electromagnetically levitated vehicles, to adjust and secure side guide rails on a beam-like support member forming the track, after stators are adjusted and fixed to the support member, the side guide rails are held in position relative to the support member. Initially, the guide rails are positioned relative to the track and then are adjusted with respect to a datum plane determined by the lower surfaces of the stators. Next, the guide rails are adjusted horizontally transversely of the track with respect to measuring points fixed to the surface of the support member. Finally, the guide rails are attached to the support member. Apparatus for installing the guide rails includes a plurality of installation truss frames mounting assembly arms for holding the guide rails. Each assembly arm has a holding device for a guide rail and an abutment positionable against a lower surface of the stators.

  • Patent number: 4969966
Abstract: The method of manufacturing curved laminated glass panels comprises overlaying at least two sheets of flat strengthened glass. Adjacent edges of the at least two sheets are sealed along a predetermined extent thereon to form a closed space between these two sheets. An opening is formed into the closed space along one edge of the glass sheets and glass laminating material is poured into the opening to fill the space between the two sheets. The opening is then closed and the at least two sheets are compressed in a preselected curvature form until the sheets assume the curvature of the form. Finally, the two sheets are held in the preselected curvature until the glass laminating material substantially cures.

Abstract: Molded composites, useful for manufacturing for example entry way doors, furniture components, building decorative or structural components, etc., are produced by a process in which a substrate and surface finishing film are placed in a mold, the mold is closed, and reactive polymeric precursors are injected between the substrate and the surface finishing film. The injection pressure and the autogenous pressure incident to the curing of the reactive polymeric precursors deform the surface finishing film into intimate contact with a surface of the mold cavity, and simultaneously the polymeric precursors chemically bond to the surface finishing film.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a weatherstrip is provided which includes the step of connecting a first extruded component and a second extruded component, each having surface treated portions and cut to a predetermined length, by means of a molded connecting portion which is molded by forcing molding material into the cavity of a mold defined by inserting and setting the first and second extruded components in the mold. The step of molding the molded connecting portion is performed by forming separating slits in a third extruded component which is cut to a length shorter that the length of the molded connecting portion and has surface treated portions such that these separating slits extend along the surface treated portions from both ends to an intermediate section and by setting the thus prepared third extruded component in the mold such that the surface treated portions are in line with the surface treated portions of the first and second extruded components.

Abstract: Method for making a transportable brick panel in which a mold on which a brick panel is to be formed is set out, with the mold including a substantially flat bottom surface. A soft deformable membrane is laid over the bottom surface, with the membrane being such as to form a seal around face edges of bricks placed on it to prevent fine cementitious particles in mortar placed between the bricks from contaminating faces of the bricks. The deformable membrane is also such as to inhibit movement of bricks placed on the membrane. Courses of brickwork are arranged in the mold on the membrane, with individual bricks being substantially evenly spaced apart with spaces therebetween for receiving fluid mortar in the spaces. Reinforcing bars are arranged to pass through aligned holes in columns of bricks so as to structurally extend through the top and bottom courses of bricks. Fluid mortar is poured to fill the spaces between the individual bricks and penetrate holes in the bricks.
