Preform Particularly Provided With Means To Provide Interlock With Shaped Material Patents (Class 264/274)
  • Patent number: 4762584
Abstract: A one-piece fishing rod handle is provided in which an integral handle portion is molded together with preformed rod handle components such as a reel seat is disclosed for use in through-rod-type construction wherein the rod blank extends axially through the entire length of the handle and foregrip. The individual preformed rod handle components are assembled onto either a mold core pin or fishing rod blank and properly registered in a mold cavity having the configuration of the finished rod handle. Molding resins such as polyurethane are then injected into the mold cavity and provide a handle portion which is bonded to the preformed reel seat. By the use of two differently dimensioned molds in conjunction with different density molding resins, dual composition one-piece fishing rod handles can also be molded.

  • Patent number: 4756857
Abstract: This relates to the forming of a seal between a container and a top element, such as a fitment, wherein the seal is subjected to a high top loading of a nature wherein conventional gasket materials, such as plastisols, will unduly flow and result in leakage. In lieu of the conventional gasket material, a hot melt material is utilized with the hot melt material being in a flowable state when the fitment is applied to the container and held in place by a mechanical interlock between the fitment and the container so as to cause an extrusion and flowing of certain of the hot melt material wherein the hot melt material functions both as a gasket and as a support to eliminate or restrain movement between the fitment and the container due to top loading. A special dispensing head is also provided for applying a controlled volume of hot melt material to each fitment in a preselected pattern.

The mold is rotated about a vertical axis and vibrated to evenly distribute the concrete mixture within the pan. A smooth magnetic sheet is placed within the cavity. The sheet engages the planar bottom of the metal pan and prevents seepage of the concrete mixture through openings in the bottom of the pan during casting. The apparatus includes a turntable, a drive for rotating the turntable and a mold clamped to the turntable. A second cast of plastic forms a cap contiguous with the sides of the bezel and encapsulates the foil and bonds it within the bezel. Upon curing, the plastic cap gives a lens effect to the decorative emblem. The emblem may be equipped with attachment means for fastening it to an automobile, appliance, or other object. In alternative embodiments, a decorative foil shape is placed directly onto the base of the bezel, and a fluent, curable plastic material is cast thereon. As the plastic material cures, it migrates around the edges and under the foil to at least partially encapsulate the foil and bond it within the bezel.

Abstract: A unitary molding insert (24) and pin (27) of the prior art are replaced by an improved molding insert (30) which is provided with a plurality of collapsible pin assemblies (56), each including a unitary hollow, cylindrical boss (58), and a separate piston (60) having a unitary valve (62) and pin (64). Each piston (60) may be inserted in its boss (58) with its valve (62) being seated on the upper edge of the boss (58) and with its pin (64) engaging the inner surface of a mold (84) to maintain the insert (30) in a stable position during the encasing of the insert (30) with a suitable molding material. When the mold is substantially filled to capacity, the pressure created by the molding material will force the piston (60), valve (62) and pin (64) to a recessed position within the boss (58).

Abstract: The method of battery molding metal-reinforced panels of matrix forming materials like, for example, concrete is improved by the use, as reinforcement for each panel, of a stratiform and biplanar structure formed of two spaced coextensive metal sheets in a parallel and mutually supporting arrangement. Preferably, at least one sheet has a multiplicity of perforations as well as a multiplicity of protrusions. The reinforcements are provided with partitioning layers and stacked in the cavity of a molding box. Upon casting and setting of the concrete or the like material into the cavity compartments metal-reinforced panels are obtained in which the biplanar reinforcement extends substantially through the panel. The tiltable molding apparatus for use in battery-molding of the panels includes a molding box in combination with at least one fluid-cushion or fluid-bag capable of varying its outer shape in response to the amount of fluid within said cushion.

Abstract: An electrical connector which is covered on its exterior surface with a non-adhering, non-electrically conductive material. The electrical contact surfaces of the electrical connector are free of the non-electrically conductive material. This electrical connector is manufactured by mounting the electrical connector on a mounting fixture wherein the electrical contact surfaces are in direct contact with the mounting fixture, heating the electrical connector to within a desired temperature range, then submerging the electrical connector in a quantity of powdered plastic which evenly coates the exterior surface of the electrical connector, removing the electrical connector from the powdered plastic, reheating of the electrical connector to cause fusing of the powdered plastic into an integral mass, cooling of the electrical connector and then removing such from the mounting fixture.

  • Patent number: 4372905
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of forming a pipe socket having a sealing ring (8) at the inner surface of the pipe socket wall. The sealing ring has a fastening portion (16) and a sealing portion (20) connected therewith. The sealing portion (20) is displaceable in the axial direction of the pipe socket to be able to take different positions therein in order to adapt to different tolerances. It is a problem that the sealing portion (20) because of its displacability is not adapted to constitute such a surface around which the pipe wall can be formed. In order to obviate this drawback the pipe wall is formed so that the sealing portion (20) is positioned outside the pipe socket during the forming operation, whereupon the sealing portion is folded into the pipe socket after the forming operation.
