The new material can be used, in particular, for stabilization of the reinforcement fibers of high-performance fiber composite materials before they are embedded in the matrix material. During this usage, the polyhydroxyether fiber material dissolves at a temperature above its glass transition temperature entirely in the matrix material, so that the reinforcement fibers can be arranged largely free of kinking. In addition, it forms cross-links with the matrix material to form a homogeneous matrix and thus does not constitute a disruptive third phase in the composite material. The compatibility of the matrix and reinforcement fiber is also improved. It was possible to improve the bending strength of test slabs by 12% as compared to that of reference slabs with polyester filament.

A last, having an exterior surface configured to correspond to the size and shape of the interior surface of the footwear product, is covered with a microcellular lining material. An injection mold comprises shells having a pre-determined configuration to cooperate with the exterior surface of the lining covered last to form: (i) a pre-injection cavity between the shells and the lining covered last when in position in the mold for injection molding; and, (ii) an injection cavity, defining the configuration of the footwear product, between the shells and the lining covered last when injection material is being injected into the injection cavity whereby the injection pressure causes the microcellular lining material to reconfigure the pre-injection cavity.

Abstract: A decorative sheet for injection-molding and decorating a resin simultaneously, the decorative sheet containing two resin sheets laminated on each other with at least one patterned layer intervening therebetween, and the two resin sheets having a difference in linear expansion coefficient of 4×10?5/° C. (41 to 50° C.) or less. Even after subjecting to three-dimensional processing, such as vacuum molding, the decorative sheet suffers no warpage, and can be easily released from a mold for the three-dimensional processing, and even when the decorative sheet is set in a mold for injection molding, the decorative sheet does not fall off from the mold, a resin injected does not permeate a gap between the outer surface of the decorative sheet and the mold, and the decorative sheet suffers no peeling between the sheets constituting the decorative sheet.

The first section of the two sections is distal to the second section of the two sections and the second section is comprised of a material that is harder than the material of the first section. Additionally, the distal tip is bonded to a catheter shaft and the material of the catheter shaft is harder than the material of the first and second sections. The material of the catheter shaft, first section, and second section can comprise polyether block amide, with each section and the catheter shaft having different properties.

Abstract: A dry fabric seal for use with tooling for liquid resin molding processes and a method for creating the seal are disclosed. In the illustrative embodiment, the seal comprises an annular resin reservoir, a level of resin within the reservoir, a device for controlling the resin level, and a perforated pressure plate that forms one wall of the reservoir. The seal is created by controlling the level of resin between the tooling (e.g., the inner and outer molds, etc.) so that air cannot leak in (for vacuum processes) or out (for pressurized processes) between the fibers in the fabric near the top of the molds.
