Abstract: A method of manufacturing a ceramic body having continuous three-dimension through-out holes which can be preferably employed as a filter for filtration of non-metallic inclusions in a molten metal and as a porous plug for introducing a gaseous medium for floating up the non-metallic inclusions. An organic body having a three-dimensional construction is placed in a casting mold, a slip of a ceramic material is poured into the mold, and after drying, the molded body is baked to effect decomposition of the organic porous body. Thus the ceramic body is provided with through-out holes communicating with to each other three-dimensionally together with a high mechanical strength.

  • Patent number: 4600548
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of forming the primary core of a concrete pipe. A steel cylinder is disposed vertically on the base of the pipe forming machine. A conventional rotary packerhead having a diameter less than the inner diameter of the steel cylinder is lowered concentrically to the bottom thereof. Concrete is then introduced within the steel cylinder through the upper end thereof. The packerhead is rotated to force the concrete into the annular gap between the packerhead and the steel cylinder. As the primary core is formed, the packerhead is raised and rotated while concrete is introduced within the steel cylinder, thereby forming a primary core consisting of a steel cylinder having an inner lining of concrete. In an alternative embodiment, the steel cylinder is completely embedded within the concrete.

  • Patent number: 4548567
Abstract: This invention relates to manufacturing a grooved cylindrical core by extrusion. The manufacturing device comprises a single rotating integral die that has a tapered rear portion and a grooved cylindrical front portion. The tapered portion surrounds a stationary central member and guides the material from a main extruder. The front portion has a bore including linear or helical channels. The sealing problems are obviated since the tapered portion and the grooved portion make up an integral die. This die further enables to produce a grooved core perfectly gauged. According to another aspect, the threads or stripes between core grooves are identified by means of auxiliary extruders feeding predetermined die channels with extrusion materials having different colours. This stripe identification is particularly used for a core constituting the central strand of an optical cable.

This laminate is produced by melt attenuating the blend(s) while extruding the latter to films, cross-laminating the layers before or after solidification while they are still in molecularly unoriented state--except for the weak orientation produced by the melt-attenuation--and finally strongly biaxially orienting the laminate by stretching in several steps, whereby the stretching is generally uniaxial during each step.

Abstract: Bottles made of saturated polyester resin, particularly polyethylene terephthalate resin, by orientation blow molding exhibit phenomenal properties and characteristics, but suffer from a serious disadvantage in that the bottle neck is greatly inferior in the properties and characteristics to the bottle body, because the neck is molded into the final form without undergoing biaxial orientation. Biaxial orientation gives the bottle body outstanding properties and performance because it causes the molecules of a molding resin material to be arranged in the same direction. Based on this principle, the bottle neck is given the same effect as is produced with biaxial orientation by applying tensile force in a certain direction to the molecules of a molding resin material while it is still in a temperature range at which orientation takes place.

  • Patent number: 3949033
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of making a blown plastic container having a concave pressure bottom configuration by blowing a pre-form into a container having a flat bottom, then contacting and deforming the flat bottom to reform the flat bottom into the desired pressure bottom configuration. The flat bottom is reformed by blowing, or by mechanical contact, or both blowing and contact, at a temperature conducive to multi-axial orientation to provide a pressure bottom of increased strength. To facilitate the performance of the method utilizing an initial parison formed by free extrusion, the present invention further contemplates smoothing out any pinch flash and distributing it on the bottom of the parison, so that the pinch flash will not interfere with subsequent forming of the bottom of the final container as above described.

  • Patent number: 3933969
Abstract: A wire reinforced hollow core concrete fence post is made by injecting concrete into a form in which is centrally supported a longitudinally extending mandrel having a plurality of radially extending spacers extending longitudinally along its surface, the spacers being adapted to support a cylindrical tube of wire mesh reinforcing remote from the surface of the mandrel. A pallet board is disposed in the bottom of the form for supporting the concrete injected therein. Means are provided to rotate the manadrel and the tube of wire mesh reinforcing while the concrete is being injected into the form. Means are also provided to withdraw the mandrel from the form after the concrete has been injected, while retaining the concrete and the reinforcing within the form.
