The article molding regions are formed into front sides of opposed “A” and “B” surface mold tools that, when moved into a mating relationship with one another, form closed molding cavities within which molded articles are generated from molding material feed. Abstract: The present invention relates to an injection molding process that improves recovery limited productivity. The present invention advantageously applies pressurized fluid within the nozzle of an injection molding machine to improve the machine's productivity. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, an existing or new injection molding machine is outfitted with a pressurized fluid system at the nozzle between the plasticizer barrel and the melt manifold. The use of a specialized nozzle and isolation valve allows the pressurized fluid to displace material within the nozzle and runner, ensuring the proper pressure is applied to the plastic resin within the mold during pack and hold while the plasticizing screw can begin its recovery cycle. Finally, the pressurized fluid can be evacuated from the nozzle melt stream area either via the fluid entrance or a fluid pin.

  • Patent number: 6592352
Abstract: A mold for packaging an integrated semiconductor device includes two half shells closing on a perimeter dam bar of a die-stamped assembly metal frame of a semiconductor die that is between the two half shells of the mold. A depressed central pad of the metal frame defines, at least along an injection zone of the resin, a slit between the perimeter portion of the metal frame and the central pad. Resin flows through an inlet channel of the mold and through the slit to fill the upper and lower cavities. An edge of the central pad defining the slit is bent upward to form a spoiler intercepting the resin stream so that part of the resin is directed toward the lower cavity. The inner edge of the upper half shell of the mold defining the internal cavity along the injection side of the resin is inwardly offset.

  • Patent number: 6579488
Abstract: The present process includes a mold for producing a thermoplastic resin molded article, comprising paired sliding female and male mold members, which mutually slide at the time of mold closing. A product-forming portion and a non-product-forming portion are provided in the cavity of the mold, the mold further including a resin-supplying opening. A gate portion located at a boundary between the product-forming portion and non-product-forming portion interconnects the two portions. At closing of the mold, the width of the gate at the product-forming side is less than the thickness of the formed product, and stepwise or continuously widens toward the non-product-forming side. Using this mold, a thermoplastic resin molded article, with or without a laminated skin material, can be molded in good efficiency and low cost, further having a non-product-forming portion, which can be readily trimmed from the product-forming portion.

  • Patent number: 6579486
Abstract: A manufacturing method for a resin product comprised of a plurality of separate pieces and having a flange, the plurality of separate pieces including one as a separate piece having a flange corresponding to the flange of the resin product, comprises primary-injection-molding the plurality of separate pieces including the separate piece having the flange by a primary injection of a resin, and having respective separate planes of the plurality of separate pieces in abutment, joining the separate pieces together to mold the resin product having the flange by a secondary injection of a welding resin. When molding the plurality of separate pieces including the separate piece having the flange by the primary injection of the resin, a gate part for molding the flange of the separate piece having the flange is positioned inside the flange.

  • Patent number: 6562271
Abstract: A nonslip member in which a large number of nonslip convexes are fixed to an upper surface of a base fabric performing an anchoring action, and the nonslip convexes are made of rubber. By engaging a male mold and a female mold with each other, a large number of small pieces coincident to a shape of through holes of the female mold are punched out from a plate-like material. By pressurizing and heating each small piece between a punching convex and a mounting base while engaging the male mold and the female mold with each other, the small piece is bridged and fixed to the base fabric to serve as a nonslip convex.

  • Patent number: 6558597
Abstract: A process for forming an end cap in an extruded ceramic tube. An end cap forming cavity of an end cap forming die is positioned so that, when the body of the end cap forming die is situated against an extrusion die, ceramic material is able to be forced into the end cap forming cavity, through a passageway communicating between the end cap forming cavity and a backfill reservoir, and into the backfill reservoir. A plunger projects into the backfill reservoir to force the ceramic material from the backfill reservoir back through the passageway and into the end cap forming cavity to compact the ceramic material so that the ceramic material within the end cap will be provided with a substantially uniform density.

  • Publication number: 20030042649
Abstract: Method and apparatus for molding a sealing surface of revolution on a molded part in first and second partable mold halves that mate at a major parting line plane. First and second mold inserts each have a sub-insert trim wheel component shaped to mold form the sealing surface of revolution when closed at a minor parting line plane. The sub-inserts are rotatable between a position flush with the major parting line plane and a starting position angularly offset therefrom. The mold cavity is filled with liquid molding material that is allowed to harden to at least a self-sustaining solidification strength. The sub-inserts are then rotated to thereby move any minor parting line flash toward a position angularly offset from their starting position. This rotation causes any parting line flash that might otherwise remain on the sealing surface to be removed from attachment to, and/or smeared smooth along, such surface.

  • Patent number: 6482284
Abstract: A mill blank assembly for making a dental prosthesis includes a milling section and a support section. The support section is adapted to fit in a chuck or collet of a milling machine. One of the milling section and the support section includes a projection that extends into a recess of the other, in order to enhance the strength of the bond between the milling section and the support section. As a result, the completed assembly is less likely to fracture or become disassembled during the milling process.

  • Patent number: 6464910
Abstract: A system for injection moulding of large plastics components in a single shot comprises an extruder and an accumulator fed from the extruder The accumulator leads into the mould (14) via a mould valve (12) opive, when closed, to close the mould cavity substantially at the mould surface and also to close an outlet (20a) from the accumulator. The valve passage of the mould valve is of relatively large cross-section, typically several centimetres or more which facilitates injection at relatively low pressures and also facilitates passage of stones and other particulate matter which may be present if the extrudate is composed of post-consumer recycled plastics.

Abstract: An improved injection molding runnerless manifold and nozzle system, method and apparatus in which the fluid plastic molding material transfer conduits, such as the manifold runner channels and cavity injection nozzle passageway, are constructed of a low thermal conductivity, non-metallic heat insulation structural material to thereby heat insulate the liquified molding material or resin, whether thermosetting or thermoplastic, while resident in the manifold runners and/or nozzle passageways. The heat transfer and other physical parameters of the conduit material and structure are such that this molding material remains at a reasonable uncured molding temperature while resident in the transfer conduit for the duration of at least one injection cycle due to the heat insulation characteristics of these fluid flow conduits of the system.

  • Patent number: 6426032
Abstract: A gate to mold a primary spool of an ignition coil device is placed at a part which does not oppose a main part of a secondary coil in the primary spool, that is, at a part other than a coil winding portion. It is preferred to use a resin having a high dielectric withstanding voltage and a high flowability, such as polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) or polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyphenylene oxide (PPO)/polystyrene (PS), or liquid crystal polymer. By arranging the gate except at the winding portion, resin deterioration or cracks occur only at a part which does not oppose the secondary coil, that is, at a part where a high voltage from the secondary coil is relatively low. An adequate dielectric withstanding voltage is ensured without winding an insulation tape around the winding portion.
