  • Publication number: 20100225064
Abstract: A target training apparatus that fires projectiles at a trainee to simulate combat situations until the trainee strikes predetermined locations on target mounts made of standard paper or cardboard, wherein the predetermined locations correspond with deactivation wands that deactivate the apparatus and ceases firing from the target training apparatus. The apparatus comprises a base, a target column, deactivation wands, a firing column, paintball guns, and a plurality of target elements. The apparatus includes slots to hold compressed air bottles for propelling the paintballs and utility housing for providing power to the trigger system which controls the firing of the two paintball guns. The trigger system rotates a trigger lever in cyclic revolutions which causes the trigger to pull and fire rounds at the trainee.

  • Patent number: 7784794
Abstract: A frame structure holds a paper roll in the top part and releasable spring loaded pressure bars hold the roll and the leading edge of the paper stretched taut across the frame for shooting arrows through the paper and release to allow feeding a hole-free portion of paper from the roll. Once the paper is fed, springs pull the pressure bars together to apply pressure to the top of the paper roll and the leading edge of the paper on the opposite side of the frame so that the paper is held tight. An arrow may be shot through the tight paper to determine the trueness of flight. If the arrow flies true, the tear of the fletching is evenly spaced around the hole of the shaft.

The target and target connector assembly at least partially retains the targets in the extended position and/or prevents the targets from rotating from the extended position to the fallen position. Furthermore, the targets and target connector assemblies are configured to reset from the fallen position to the extended position without a rail guide or reset cam.

Abstract: An unanchored 3-D portable archery target made of foam can withstand a 20 to 150-pound blow from an arrow without tipping completely over even though the target's weight (e.g., about 10 lbs.) is less than the arrow's force of impact. To achieve such surprising and unexpected results, the target employs a unique combination of weight, foam density, and a center of gravity that is counter-intuitively elevated to provide the target with a greater rotational moment of inertia. Although it would seem that an arrow with 800 in-lbs of kinetic energy should be capable of completely tipping over a target that requires only about 15 in-lbs of energy to tip over, the target's foam core has a density and gumminess that quickly dissipates most of the arrow's kinetic energy before the energy has time to tip the target over. A hollowed-out base underneath the target provides the target with greater stability.

Abstract: A target apparatus includes a first rod having a first end and a second rod having a second end. The target apparatus further includes a tubular target receiver non-rotatably coupled to the first rod and the second rod. The first end and the second end are received within the tubular target receiver. A tubular target dispenser is coupled to the first rod and the second rod. A target is sized to be coupled between the tubular target receiver and the tubular target dispenser.

Abstract: An archery target including a rigid frame including a target side, a sheet secured to the frame on a target side to create an interior compartment bounded by the sheet and the frame, a compressed density material in the compartment and a backing. The sheet can be a filtration screen constructed from synthetic polymers, optionally polyamide fibers, and can have a weight of 13 to 16 ounces per square yard, and can include parallel warp yams formed from three pairs monofilament polyamide fibers, the three pairs of fibers twisted together to form a cable yarn, as well as parallel fill yam formed from a single monofilament polyamide fiber. A related method includes: providing a rigid frame; securing a sheet to the frame to create an interior compartment; compressing a density material; and securing a backing to the frame.

Abstract: A portable, self-erecting sports goal has a frame sufficiently flexible to be re-positioned between a goal configuration and a storage configuration without requiring disassembly of the frame. The frame includes first and second goal posts interconnected at upper ends thereof by a crossbar, a first base bar extending rearward from a lower end of a first goal post, a second base bar extending rearward from a lower end of a second goal post, and a base rail interconnecting the ends of the first and second base bars opposite the goal posts. In the goal configuration, the base bars and base rail support the sports goal on an underlying ground surface and the goal posts and crossbar cooperate to define a substantially rectangular goal mouth extending upright from the underlying ground surface. In the storage configuration, the frame is twisted and folded upon itself into a substantially flat and compact position enabling the sports goal to be readily carried and stored.

Abstract: A fixed and portable, remote controlled moving target system to train shooters in marksmanship and correct target recognition comprising supported target assemblies on horizontal cables which are connected to vertical support assemblies. The targets are driven by an operator programmable, electronically controlled, computer based motor drive assembly. The targets are positioned by the operator inputs and the positions of the targets at start and during their movements behind an obscuring medium are programmed into the system. Once inputted into memory, the program can be replayed until it is overwritten. The targets exhibit humanoid movements owing to their unique suspension system and cable attachments.
