At the same time that the blind attachment is inserted, a second hole is made in the seal by having the servo drill moved at the appropriate location.

Abstract: A belling machine (1) forms end sockets equipped with an integrated seal on pipes (3) made of thermoplastic material using a forming mandrel (4) on which an annular seal (5) was previously placed, diametrically expanded, coaxially and in a predetermined position. A loader (8) for loading the annular seal (5) on the mandrel (4) is able to move between a arming position, in which the loader is spaced from the belling axis (b) and does not interfere with the mandrel (4) movement along the belling axis (b), and a loading position, in which the loader is coaxial with the belling axis (b) and is located between the mandrel (4) back position, disengaged from the pipe (3) and the mandrel (4) forward position, inserted in the end (30) of the pipe (3). An annular seal (5) is placed in a positioner (10) which holds it in an operating position for the action of an arming device (9).

The gasket includes a compressible body having a plurality of metal segments partially embedded therein. Each of the metal segments includes a row of exposed teeth configured for engaging a spigot end of a pipe and a trough configured for pivotably engaging a bead on a bell. The trough is further configured for shearing or deforming the bead and inhibiting over-pivoting of the segment about the bead when the pipes are partially withdrawn away from one another, for example, during over-pressurization of the pipes.

Abstract: A hollow component is adjusted in shape, for example to correct circularity, by means of a shape adjusting tool. The tool comprises a base structure on which adjuster elements are guided. An adjustment ring has a ramp surface corresponding to each adjuster element so that rotation of the adjustment ring causes radial displacement of the adjuster elements 6. The adjuster elements are displaced in unison, and engage the internal surface of the component to be adjusted so as to deform the component to the desired shape. The segments are interconnected by rigid links and a single flexible link, and are supported on bearing rollers mounted on the base structure.

An elastomer is provided in the annular slit, which is vulcanized or glued to the inner ring and to the outer ring and fills up the annular slit substantially or completely. The annular slit is meander-shaped around the periphery of the coupling so that radially outward protrusions of the inner ring undercut radially inward protrusions of the outer ring. Around the periphery of the coupling, a relief opening is provided in the elastomer on both sides of the protrusions of the inner ring and on both sides of the protrusions of the outer ring.
