  • Patent number: 4002516
Abstract: A hermetic closure cap of resilient thermoplastic material constructed so as to be removably securable in an aperture made in a rigid sheet. This cap is retained by a normally non-deformable but laterally retractable part pressing against the edges of the rigid sheet defining the aperture and which cap is maintained in position before opening by a removable locking element which is inserted into a slot in the cap that is of similar cross-section to that of the locking element. The sealing cap thus designed can be used, for example, in cans containing a beverage under pressure.

  • Patent number: 3999278
Abstract: A method for assembling a wiper blade with a wiper arm wherein the wiper blade consists of a backing strip having keyhole-shaped slots therein and an open aperture at one end of the strip, along with a multifarious wiping element having a plurality of T-shaped projections for fitting in the keyhole-shaped slots in the backing strip and a projection at the end thereof for buttoning the backing strip to the wiping element upon stretching the wiping element. The steps of the method define the sequence of steps of aligning the projections with the slots and stretching the wiping element to align the projection with the open aperture whereupon release of the stretched wiping element completes the assembly.

  • Patent number: 3997052
Abstract: A method for fabrication of a relatively low cost display or communicative novelty button in which a consumable restrictor sheet is placed over a vacuum draw type female mold cavity. The restrictor sheet may be of cardboard and be apertured with a diameter smaller than the mold cavity diameter. A thermoplastic sheet material is then placed over the restrictor sheet, heated to reach a formable state and vacuum drawn through the restricted aperture and down so that the sheet comes into contact with and generally conforms to the desired shape defined by the mold cavity. The plastic sheet material may then be trimmed near the edge of the restrictor sheet to leave a button shell mounted on a restrictor sheet which may then be used for purposes of display. The restrictor sheet also enables fabrication with an inwardly facing peripheral groove that may be used to secure a pin fastener. An alternate form of fastener in which a portion of the remaining plastic sheet is used is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 3977576
Abstract: An improved aerosol container and valve construction. The container employs a mounting member in an opening in one end of the container body to mount the valve mechanism. The mounting member is tightly seated on a rim surrounding the opening, and maintained in this position by holding means on the body which are spaced from the rim. The valve mechanism is locked in a sealing position in the mounting member by means of a shoulder extending about the valve mechanism and sitting in a groove extending about the mounting member.

  • Patent number: 3977072
Abstract: A magnetic locator in which flux-gate sensors are mounted in longitudinal notches or grooves at the ends of a tubular support to form an assembly which is inserted into a tubular housing, the sensors being press-fitted into the notches and the tubular support being provided with spaced bushings of material which are compressed when inserted into the housing. A stiff hairpin excitation conductor extends through the sensors and through the tubular support, being preassembled with one of the sensors. A simplified electrical circuit is employed which produces a beat frequency signal when a magnetic object is located and which avoids the need for a voltage to frequency converter.

  • Patent number: 3974558
Abstract: This upstroke-cushioning expansible strut consists of a spring-pressed hollow upper inner arm having on its lower end a piston head reciprocable within a roughly cylindrical hollow lower outer arm, the former being pivoted to an automobile rear hatch while the latter is pivoted to the lower part of the automobile body. Mounted between the lower arm and the upper arm is an elongated hollow spool-shaped internal seal which also guides the upper arm as it is propelled upward by the lifting force applied by the operator, assisted by internal springs. The air is allowed to escape gradually through bleed orifices until the upper arm nears its fully extended position, whereupon the release of the air is halted by the covering up of the orifices by the internal seal when said orifices reach said seal, thereby cushioning the impact which would otherwise occur between the piston head on the lower end of the upper inner arm and the upper end of the lower outer arm. The internal seal also acts as a resilient stop.

  • Patent number: 3972110
Abstract: A one-piece spring fastener is provided for mounting fencing wire or the like to a channel shaped support. In one embodiment the wire is mounted generally perpendicularly to the support and is free to move along its axis relative to the support. The fastener is of a generally "U" shape in cross-section comprising two generally parallel, spaced apart, generally "T" shaped members joined along substantially the entire tops thereof by a bight or interconnecting bridge portion. The top portions of the "T" shaped members in combination with the bight portion form a trough for receipt of the wire and the base portions of the "T" shaped members are generally dart shaped for nonrotational, forced receipt inbetween and retention by the inturned flanges of the channel shaped support.

  • Patent number: 3968582
Abstract: An improved gaming token and fabrication process therefor wherein an injection molding compound is applied at selected preconfigured locations within and between a pair of aligned, substantially flat annular non-metallic rings. The common interface between the injected molding compound and the annular rings receiving the molding compound is seen as continuous sharply defined lines between the different colors of the molding compound and of the rings, respectively. These lines define preconfigured surface designs which are contiguous with the outer surfaces of the two annular rings. One or more coins may be mounted in a central opening defined by certain portions of the annular rings, and these coins impart an added measure of control over the distribution of these tokens in instances where the annular rings are made by authorized outside vendors.

  • Patent number: 3967352
Abstract: A method for making a scroll type housing for a centrifugal blower wherein a flat discharge plate is provided with a rectangular discharge opening and a pair of lugs are spaced from each of a first pair of opposing parallel edges of the opening. Narrow upstanding flanges along the edges are spaced slightly from the lugs and the second pair of opposing edges of the opening are each provided with a narrow elongated portion which is offset to a shallow depth in the direction of the flanges. A scroll member is provided in an elongated generally flat flexible sheet of material with a narrow end flange formed integrally along each end edge. The flanges project generally in the same direction and the member also has a reverse bend adjacent one end approximately in the form of a desired final configuration of a "cut-off" section of the housing. Three lanced openings are spaced apart along each side edge of the member.

  • Patent number: 3934328
Abstract: A completely enclosed plastic can or container has a neck-like opening closed by a spring biased cap. The cap is controlled by a handle linkage connected to a vertical fin formed on the can by an enlargement of the flash line between two plastic mold parts, which are joined together to mold the container, preferably by a blow molding process. Springs automatically urge the cap and handle to a closed position when the container is sitting at rest. The cap opens as the can is tipped while the handle is being held. A clip-on pouring spout is snapped onto the neck to guide the fluid flowing from the can.
