Patent number: 8276273Abstract: There are provided a method for removing a blade ring by pulling out the blade ring smoothly and surely while preventing damage to other components, and a member for removing a blade ring. By using a dummy blade ring, connection plates, and connecting bolts, work for removing and mounting a lower half section of the blade ring is performed. Thereby, work of rotation and the like can be performed while the lower half section of the blade ring and the dummy blade ring are connected to each other in both end portions. Therefore, during the work, the lower half section of the blade ring and the dummy blade ring are prevented from shifting from each other and therefore from interfering with the opposed rotor blade tip, a lower half section of a casing, and the like, thus preventing damage to the tip, distortion of the lower half section of the blade ring and the dummy blade ring, and the like. Consequently, a stator blade ring can be pulled out smoothly and surely.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2007Date of Patent: October 2, 2012Assignee: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Katsuhisa Shigemoto, Taichi Ozaki, Hitoshi Morimoto

Patent number: 8266779Abstract: A unique self-drilling anchor screw is configured so that it can be set and used to secure a first object to a second object using only one tool to save time and effort. A nut of the screw engages a nut stop when turning in reverse, thereby driving rotation of the screw in reverse. The screw has a drill bit tip adapted for drilling a hole while turning in reverse. A hole is drilled using the drill bit tip while turning the nut in reverse with a socket wrench of the one tool. After drilling the hole, the nut is turned in the forward direction with the socket wrench to engage a sleeve member of the screw, which sets the screw in the second object. Then, the nut is further turned forward using the socket wrench to tighten the nut against the first object located between the nut and the second object.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2010Date of Patent: September 18, 2012Assignee: Rhino Self-Drilling Anchor GPInventors: Robert Andrew Gillis, Dallas A. Patent number: 8136847Abstract: A mechanical pipe coupling is formed of segments attached end to end to surround a central space. Each segment has a circumferentially extending cavity facing the central space flanked by arcuate keys which project toward the central space. Two arcuate shoulder surfaces are positioned on each segment. The arcuate shoulder surfaces face the central space and are positioned in spaced relation on opposite sides of the cavity between the cavity and the arcuate keys. The arcuate shoulder surfaces are angularly oriented with respect to an axis perpendicular to a plane containing the segments. The coupling is used to couple pipe elements having a circumferential ring located at the ends of the pipe elements. The angular orientation of the arcuate shoulder surfaces provides flexibility to the joint. A method of joining pipe elements having circumferential rings is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 2009Date of Patent: March 20, 2012Assignee: Victaulic CompanyInventors: Scott D. Publication number: 20120061982Abstract: A hoist ring assembly includes an anchor subassembly with bushing, retainer and threaded fastener elements, and a loop subassembly with a lifting loop and pair of pin elements. The assembly is adapted such that the lifting loop is rotatable through a 360-degree angle about a major axis, and pivotable through at least 180-degree angle about a minor axis. The assembly can be rapidly assembled or disassembled, and incorporates one or more components which may be substantially fabricated by way of forging operation, particularly the retainer member.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2011Publication date: March 15, 2012Applicant: MJT Holdings LLCInventors: Bernard J. Publication number: 20120055007Abstract: For turbo-diesel application trucks, it is desirable to enable the quickest exit of the exhaust from the engine because, in most cases, the exhaust gas temperatures of these engines are very high. Thus, a hole is formed in the hood of the trucks and the exhaust stack is slid through the hole to permit the quickest exit of the exhaust into the atmosphere. However although the hood may be non-horizontally oriented, the stack should be kept in a vertical position. Thus, a stack mounting basket is positioned beneath the hole having three widely separated outwardly extending threaded bolt extensions that are positioned within three slotted downwardly extending elongated members affixed to the hood. The relative positions of the elongated members with respect to the threaded bolt extensions are adjusted, and nuts are tightened over the elongated members to permit the stack to maintain a vertical orientation.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 7, 2010Publication date: March 8, 2012Inventors: Joshua Lee Stewart, Jeffrey A. Publication number: 20120057927Abstract: An assembly includes a first structure and a clamp. The first structure may have an opening located on a first surface and the opening includes a keyway. The clamp is configured to clamp a second structure to the first structure. The clamp may include a head configured to be inserted above the opening in the first structure. The clamp may also include a body coupled to the head. An upper portion of the body may include formations located on opposite sides of the body and a lower portion of the body is threaded. The clamp may further include a nut coupled to the body. The nut may be configured to be rotated such that when the formations on the body are aligned with the keyway in the first structure, the head of the clamp is configured to lower onto the second structure and secure the second structure to the first structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 23, 2011Publication date: March 8, 2012Applicant: THOMAS & BETTS INTERNATIONAL, INC.Inventors: Joey D. Publication number: 20120048066Abstract: A hold and drive tool and method of operation for fastening parts together with a stud and nut. The tool may comprise a tool body including a drive member therein, with the drive member rotationally driven by a power source; a nut drive member engaging the drive member and including a nut engaging portion received on the nut and rotating the nut relative to the stud; a hold member including a hold shaft connected to a hold bit, with the hold bit located in the nut drive member and received on a hold feature on the stud to prevent the stud from rotating relative to the hold member; and a clutch secured to the tool body and the hold shaft, with the clutch selectively allowing for and preventing rotation of the hold shaft relative to the tool body.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2010Publication date: March 1, 2012Applicant: GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATION, INC.Inventors: Miroslaw Zaloga, Jonathan L. Publication number: 20120045292Abstract: A method and an anchor for supporting items on a substrate such as drywall. The anchor comprises a structure configured to carry the anchoring element in a minimal cross section configuration through an insertion hole and to effect a first expansion. The anchor further comprises an adjustable cap member configured to be moved to fixedly position the anchoring element to the non-accessible side of the substrate. The anchoring element comprises a base channel member, a top channel member, and a connector-pivoting element configured to pivotally connect the top channel member to the base channel member. The top channel member is configured to be nested with the base channel member in the minimal cross section configuration and to be pivotally rotatable via the connector pivoting element in the plane parallel to the non-accessible side of the wall, with the pivotal rotation of the top channel member providing the second expansion.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2010Publication date: February 23, 2012Applicant: MECHANICAL PLASTICS CORP.Inventor: Gordon E.
