Patent number: 7581302Abstract: A magnetic gap in a solenoid core is formed by a non-magnetic brazing material bonded into a groove encircling the core in the region of the magnetic gap. A bore through a single piece core and valve cartridge is dimensioned to intersect the brazing material and remove magnetic material bridging the gap without severing the core into separate pieces. This allows the solenoid core and the valve cartridge to be machined in a single piece with a uniform diameter bore receiving a single piece solenoid plunger and valve spool. This ensures accurate concentricity of the plunger and spool within the bore, which improves magnetic performance while reducing manufacturing costs.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2005Date of Patent: September 1, 2009Assignee: G. Patent number: 7491021Abstract: A product with a surface relief grating (SRG) image effect has a surface with rotational cuts effected therein to create the SRG image effect. The SRG image has an effect based on a rotational speed of a cutting tool effecting the cuts, a travel speed of a cutting tool effecting the cuts, and a depth of the cuts. A light source can be used to emit light on the surface of the product. In an SRG image machining process, a material and a cutting tool are provided. The material is contacted by the cutting tool to a predetermined depth. The cutting tool is rotated to cut the material at a predetermined rotational speed. The cutting tool is moved to cut the material at a predetermined travel speed. A SRG image effect is produced in the material through the contacting, rotating, and moving steps.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2008Date of Patent: February 17, 2009Assignee: A.M. Patent number: 7490393Abstract: A semi-automatic method for reconditioning an articulated connector while it is still mounted to the end structure of a rail car is disclosed. The female connector is mounted to a fixture and subsequently appropriately aligned. Weld metal is automatically applied to the worn portion of the female connector while attached to the aligned fixture. The excess weld metal is then automatically machined away so that the connector falls within the required dimensions. A measurement of the weld area can again be taken to ensure that the specified dimensions have been achieved.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2005Date of Patent: February 17, 2009Assignee: TTX CompanyInventors: Richard A. Patent number: 7487580Abstract: A snow fence system made of snow itself, intended for use around construction sites, like raised pads, commonly used in oil, mining and construction. The snow fence is built in stages. After the first significant snowfall, the pad is cleared by pushing the snow to the windward side of the pad. The pile is then shaped to make a steep flat wall surface. As snow accumulates behind the fence, it is cleared by building a higher wall in front of the first wall. The new wall is higher than the first wall and it too is given a steep vertical face. As additional snow accumulates, the fence is built out further from the pad, using the material from the excavated trenches to build additional walls. Once the fence is in place, the pad remains virtually snow free from drifting. At the end of the season, the fence simply melts away.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2007Date of Patent: February 10, 2009Inventors: Donald W. Schele, Marvin D. Smith

Patent number: 7487588Abstract: In a process for producing leaves (20, 20?) for a leaf seal, in particular as a seal for a gas turbine, which leaves (20, 20?) are laterally delimited by a peripheral edge contour and have regions of different thicknesses (d1, d2), a simplification, without sacrificing precision, is achieved by virtue of the edge contour of the leaves (20, 20?) being cut out of a metal sheet (28) by an etching process and the regions of different thicknesses (d1, d2) also being produced simultaneously as part of the etching process.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2006Date of Patent: February 10, 2009Assignee: ALSTOM Technology Ltd.Inventors: Simon Ian Hogg, Nigel Anthony Rhodes, Erwin Schoenfeld

Patent number: 7485089Abstract: A cardiac harness for treating or preventing congestive heart failure is configured to be placed about at least a portion of a patient's heart so as to apply a mild compressive force on the heart. In one embodiment, the cardiac harness comprises a plurality of spaced apart conductive panels arranged so that there is no electrical continuity circumferentially around the harness. In an additional embodiment, a cardiac harness is provided that is insulated so as not to conduct electricity circumferentially about the harness.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2003Date of Patent: February 3, 2009Assignee: Paracor Medical, Inc.Inventors: Lilip Lau, James Hong, Steven Meyer, Matthew G. Publication number: 20090029797Abstract: According to this invention, there is provided a method of manufacturing a golf cub head having a plurality of score lines on the face. The method of this invention includes the first forming step of forming grooves for the score lines on the face, and the second forming step of forming flat surfaces inclined with respect to the face by cutting into the edges of the grooves formed in the first forming step.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 18, 2007Publication date: January 29, 2009Applicant: BRIDGESTONE SPORTS CO., LTD.Inventors: Wataru Ban, Fumiaki Sato
