Abstract: A male terminal comprises an electrical contact portion and an insulating member made of insulating material. The electrical contact portion is inserted into and connected to a female terminal. The insulating member includes a to-be-received portion accommodated in the electrical contact portion and a to-be-exposed portion. The electrical contact portion includes a bottom wall upon which the to-be-received portion is disposed, and a top wall. The to-be-received portion is positioned between the bottom wall and the top wall having a securing engagement portion brought into engagement with the to-be-received portion. The male terminal is made by placing the to-be-received portion upon the bottom wall while the bottom wall, the top wall, and the securing engagement portion are flush with each other, bending them such that the to-be-received portion resides between the top wall and the bottom wall, and bringing the securing engagement portion into engagement with the to-be-received portion.

  • Publication number: 20110302780
Abstract: A method and a press for crimping metal terminals onto electric cables, wherein the metal terminal is retained in the centred crimping position, during the entire crimping process. To this end, the press of the invention comprises a crimping assembly (3) provided with means of controlling the knife (7) for the conductor (18) of the electric cable (19) independently or separately from the remaining knives (8,9), respectively for crimping the insulation (20) of said cable (19) and for detaching the carrier strip (21) supporting the metal terminal (17). By comparison with the known art, the method and the press of the invention offer the advantage of ensuring that the metal terminal is kept centred in the correct position for crimping, without undergoing unwanted displacement during the process of attaching to it the conductor and the insulation of the electric cable.

Abstract: A terminal crimping device where an electric wire (14) is moved from a wire stripping section (10) to a terminal crimping section (6), with both ends of the wire (14) held by two wire holding hands (3) of a wire conveying hand (2), and is subjected to terminal crimping processing by terminal crimping pressing devices (6a). The terminal crimping device has the second wire conveying hand (2) for conveying the wire (14) at the terminal crimping section (6). The wire conveying hand (2) conveys the wire (14) without passing it from one side of the wire crimping pressing devices (6a) to the other side, so that an occurrence of a holding failure of the wire (14) is suppressed even if the number of the terminal crimping pressing devices (6a) is increased or the conveyance speed of the wire (14) is increased.

Abstract: A self-locking wire terminal assembly and a shape memory wire termination system includes an electrical terminal constructed with spring legs which provide two opposing points of contact on a mating electrical conductive pin. The points of contact prevent the pin from being removed. The shape memory termination system is formed by electrically coupling a clip assembly to shape memory wire and to an electrical source. In one embodiment, the shape memory wire causes an actuator to activate when the shape memory wire dissipates electrical power. The terminal assemblies may be manufactured by assembling wire with conduction pads onto a continuous reel. The terminal assemblies may be formed from the reel by trimming wire and linkages between the conduction pads.

Abstract: Inwardly-directed projecting portions (2, 3) are formed in a bent manner respectively at distal ends of a pair of clamping piece portions (4, 5) which are continuous with each other, and form a wire connection portion (7) of a terminal (1). A conductor portion (9) of a wire (8) is located on the inner sides of the pair of clamping piece portions (4, 5), and the pair of clamping piece portions are pressed over an entire periphery into a circular shape, and are extended in a peripheral direction, thereby causing projecting extension portions (2?, 3?), including the projecting portions (2, 3), to bite into the conductor portion. Before the pressing operation, the pair of clamping piece portions (4, 5) may be provisionally pressed to be curved, thereby causing distal ends of the projecting portions (2, 3) to bite slightly into an outer peripheral surface of the conductor portion (9).

Abstract: The crimping apparatus crimps a conductor of a FFC (flexible flat cable) to a terminal. The crimping apparatus has a crimping portion and a pressing portion. The crimping portion has an anvil and a crimper which pinch the terminal and the conductor of FFC therebetween. The pressing portion has a pair of stopping bars. The stopping bars each are inserted into a through hole defined in the crimper. The stopping bars of the pressing portion press the conductor positioned on a bottom wall of the terminal against the bottom wall. The crimping portion crimps crimping pieces of the terminal with the stopping bars pressing the conductor against the bottom wall.

Abstract: A rail bond for bonding a wire or cable to a surface of rail includes a copper sheet and weld metal material solidified from molten metal material. A copper or other metal sheet is placed against the surface of the rail where the bond is to be located, and against an opening of a chamber of a graphite mold where the molten weld metal material is formed. Molten material is produced into liquid form and flows to the copper sheet material. This causes the copper sheet material to melt and bond against the steel rail. The presence of the copper sheet material between the molten weld metal and the rail surface reduces the amount of heating in the steel rail, and reduces the size of the heat affected zone (HAZ) in the steel rail.

Abstract: The present invention is to provide an apparatus for crimping a terminal to an electrical wire, which have respective part numbers, and allows miniaturization of the apparatus. The apparatus includes a base, a drive portion, a plurality of applicators, a plurality of connection/disconnection portions and a control device. The drive portion drives the associated applicator to crimp the terminal to the electrical wire. The connection/disconnection portions each are disposed in one-to-one relation ship against the respective applicators. The each connection/disconnection portion is positionable at a connection and a disconnection position, where a driving force is transmitted to or released from the associated applicator. The control device controls the associated connection/disconnection portion so that the applicator corresponding to the part numbers of the electrical wire and the terminal can achieve crimping with the driving force from the drive portion.

Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for connecting two pairs of conductors and one pair of ground wires and for allowing separation of the same upon the application of a tensional force upon at least one of the conductors or ground wires. The apparatus comprises two plates that each defines three holes configured to receive two conductors and a ground wire, wherein the plates are positioned adjacent to each other such that the respective holes in each plate are aligned such that the conductors and ground wires coming from each plate would be in physical contact. Three connectors hold the plates together. The first two connectors are configured to release the plates upon the application of a tensional force on the conductors or ground wires before the third connector releases the plates, thereby separating the conductors before separating the ground wires. Another embodiment addresses the same in multi-service connections.
