  • Patent number: 11131128
Abstract: A door handle arrangement for a motor vehicle includes a support, a handle which can take a basic position and an operating position, and a drive element which, during normal operation, moves the handle out of the basic position and into the operating position. The handle in its operating position can be grasped by an operator in order to open the door. In an emergency operation, the handle is designed to be movable manually into an emergency operating position in which it is pivoted about a first axis that is oriented transversely with respect to a longitudinal direction of the support. A first longitudinal portion of the handle is pivoted in the direction of the support and a second longitudinal portion protrudes out of the door so as to be able to be grasped by an operator.

Abstract: Disclosed are apparatus and corresponding methodology for the attachment of a self-contained module to any mechanical lock having a mating feature to accept it (in either of an OEM application or as a retrofit). The module enables a separate (preexisting) cam locking feature (components) to be associated with an existing mechanical lock by being fitted onto the back of the existing lock and then having the cam locking components attached to the module. In turn, the preexisting cam locking components may be fitted to the module aligned in any one of four positions (up, down, left, and right) on the back of the module for latching in any position in which the associated lock/cam strike may be installed. The cam locking components then function to allow a user to open an associated door or drawer, and when finished, slam it shut without having to rotate the lock back to a locked position.

It includes a first handle positioned on a first side of a door having a thickness, a shaft having two ends with one end fixedly connected to the first handle, a second handle positioned on a second side of the door and connected to the other end of the shaft by a nut, the nut permitting the second handle and shaft to rotate relative to each other but preventing the second handle from being removed from the shaft, a latch that is operated by rotating the first handle and/or the second handle, and a coil spring that is interposed between the fixing member and the second handle to bias the first handle and the second handle towards or away from each other. If the thickness of the door increases or decrease, the coil spring will permit the second handle to move closer or further from to the fixing member to accommodate the increase in door thickness.

Abstract: A device for providing a lever attachment to round doorknobs having a flexible cylindrical part that adapts to the majority of doorknobs of different diameters, thicknesses and profiles. During the screw tightening the compressible elastomeric material sandwiched between doorknob and cylindrical part of the attachment increases the interface contact surface to take the shape of the doorknob profile. The elastomeric insert has a high coefficient of friction. It prevents slipping of the attachment after tightening.

  • Patent number: 8360489
Abstract: A cylindrical lever lock using a lever as a handle for convenient use by even the disabled and the old is disclosed. Since plate shafts, spring holders and spring cage covers constituting the cylindrical lever lock are made of general metal plates, the material cost and the prime cost may be reduced. In addition, the spring holders are connected through double engagements with spring cages and the spring cage covers. Therefore, deformation of parts or drooping of levers may be prevented in spite of an excessive force applied. Furthermore, assembling and disassembling of the parts can be quickly and easily performed by achieving adjustment of intervals of the parts according to thickness of a door using a female screw of an outer attachment plate and a male screw of a boy assembly.

  • Patent number: 8210581
Abstract: A door handle assembly for attachment to an escutcheon, the assembly comprising a door handle, wear washer, spindle nut, spindle nut retainer, and shaft retainer. The door handle has a hub, externally threaded for engagement with the internal threads of the spindle nut, with a central hole and axial slots engaging locking tabs of the spindle nut retainer. The wear washer is inserted over the hub between the inside surface of the escutcheon and the spindle nut. The spindle nut is adjusted on the hub until the proper fit and feel is achieved. The spindle nut retainer is placed over the spindle nut to lock it in position, and a shaft retainer is placed over the spindle nut retainer to secure it. The spindle nut provides more contact surface area with the underlying wear washer, reducing cyclic wear, increasing product life, reliability and security.

Abstract: A handle assembly has a handle, a handle spigot to which the handle is attached, a biasing member to bias the handle to a naturally closed position, an operating plate which is rotatable by the handle spigot, a mounting stock, and a housing, the spigot, the biasing member, operating plate and a majority of the mounting stock being positioned within the housing, the mounting stock being securable to the housing to hold all the components within the housing. In this manner, the handle assembly can be made as a “complete” unit with all the internal components being in position and with the handle being rotatably attached relative to the housing. Thus, no separate rose is required. Another advantage is that the unit can be assembled using a substantially concealed fixing arrangement to improve security and also to improve the aesthetic appeal of the assembly.
