    Abstract: The invention relates to a door handle, comprising a handle located on the visible side of the door and a support (10) for said handle which is fixed onto the reverse side of the door. The handle has connecting elements at both extremities which penetrate recesses in the door, whereby one extremity is connected to a lever (13′) which is mounted on a pivoting support (10). A housing which can contain a locking cylinder is inserted into the support (10) next to the handle. According to the invention, in order to simplify the assembly of the handle, a retaining element (25) is positioned between the support (10) and the lever (13′) which, in its usual active retaining position, secures the lever in a defined pivoted position, pointing outwards. The handle can be connected easily to the lever in this pivoted position. However, when the housing is inserted into the support, the retaining element (25) is displaced into its inactive position, where it releases the lever (13′).

They are then connected to one another and the final fastening position of the handle is determined.

Rotation of the handle extends or retracts a bolt that closes or opens the lock. The keypad includes indicia that give the user visual cues as to the orientation of the handle, thereby informing the user of the extended or retracted condition of the bolt. A battery pack is used to energize circuitry that recognizes a code entered through the keypad. The circuitry provides a control signal that activates a solenoid to extend or retract a bolt blocking device, which in turn prevents or enables movement of the bolt. A visual indicator warns of a low voltage or power condition in the battery pack. Electrical contacts are provided in the face plate of the handle to connect the circuitry to an external power source in case the battery pack fails.

Rotating the adjustable connection between the first and second adapter pieces changes the angle between the lever handle and the home position on the rose to bring the lever handle to horizontal regardless of the rotational orientation of the rose.

    Abstract: A knob catch for securing a knob or lever to the driving spindle of a door lock. The knob catch is constructed of a base with a centered odd shaped hole. The hole is made in such a way that the knob or lever cannot be removed when the locking device is in the locked position using a key operated cylinder with a flat locking bar. A tongue portion of the knob catch rises above the base and fits into the knob or lever and keeps the knob or lever from being removed. In the front side of this tongue is an angular surface which permits the knob or lever to be slid over the top of the knob catch until the knob catch tongue and an aperture in the knob or lever align allowing the tongue to be spring biased into the aperture to secure the knob or lever. There are two springs attached to the knob catch to bias the tongue into engagement with the knob or lever aperture.

The door handle is incapable of unlatching the door when the locking mechanism locks the latch. The lock lever and the door panel are constructed such that the lock lever cannot be accessed through the opening for manual movement back to its unlocked position. In the normal lock mode, the lock lever is not received within the opening in the door panel in the locked position so that it is accessible for manually moving the lock lever to the unlocked position. A key lock interconnects the lock lever and a lock rod for selectively actuating the locking mechanism.
