Abstract: An apparatus for the hand held transportation of sheet materials on either level or inclined surfaces while maintaining control over such sheets. A handle or shoulder strap is connected pivotally to a sheet support at a particularly specified point, which ensures that the sheet support pivots readily on inclined surfaces. The point that is specified is as low as possible on the sheet support.

Abstract: A pull handle structured for dragging or sliding a filled recycling bin across the ground. The device, shaped for pulling motion, includes a generally V-shaped hook defined by divergent upright and diagonally upwardly sloping legs. The distal end of the upright leg is rounded to releasably engage into a downwardly curved lifting rim formed around the open upper end of the bin. The second leg includes hand grasping portion to enable a user to pull against the rim via the engaged first leg into the rim to slide the bin across the ground.

Abstract: A manual tool for rolling and positioning a mass of material. More particular, for use with rolls of stratified materials having a central core. The tool when inserted into the central core of such stratified rolls articulates in a manner so as to allow a cleat member to grip the outer perimeter of the roll and thereby allows the workman to apply leverage to the mass causing rotation. Repeated articulated movements allows the tool to be operated in a ratcheting manner.

Abstract: A manual pole handling tool which comprises an insulating fiberglass rod handle that is attached to a chain load binder by means of a handle sleeve and a swivel component. One end of the sleeve receives the fiberglass handle and the sleeve's opposite end is pivotally connected at one end of the swivel so that the handle can rotate at least 180 degrees in the swivel. A bolt or other pin member connects the swivel's opposite end to the load binder so that the swivel can rotate 360 degrees around the pin member. When the load binder is tightened around the pole, the swivel will permit the rod handle to rotate right, left, up or down so that pulling or pushing forces can be applied to the pole in various directions.

Abstract: A handle is provided for a joint of PVC agricultural irrigation pipe. The handle is either integral with PVC end portions which are glued to the saddle or the handle is telescoped in PVC tubes which are glued to the saddle. The saddle is glued to the joint of pipe forming convenient means for carrying the pipe.

Abstract: A method and drawbar apparatus for engaging a latch of and manually moving a bulkhead door in a railroad boxcar. The drawbar has an elongate bar with a T-shaped handle at one end and a generally arcuate hook at the other end. In use, the bar retains the latch handle in a released position and applies a manual force to the bulkhead to move it. The T-shaped handle is distal from the bulkhead to safely keep a worker's digits, torso and feet from the door and boxcar sidewall. To facilitate easy and smooth movement of the bulkhead door, the hook removably engages and interlocks with the latch or a latch shaft so that force is applied to the bulkhead door adjacent its center of mass.

Abstract: The invention pertains to a lightweight portable lifting device with an adjustable handle which is leveraged to tighten against a lifting bar at an easily adjustable variable distance from a support surface and is usable in pairs to lift and move objects, such as furniture. The handle and lifting bar have interlocking engagement teeth which are quickly and easily disengageable to permit positioning the handle member at a multiplicity of locations along the lifting bar. In a preferred embodiment, the handle is engageable and disengageable from the lifting bar simply by pivoting the handle between the lifting and a release position.

A second sectional adjustable belt adapted to be worn around the neck and shoulders of a person for portaging, the extremities being both adjustable and attachable by looping to the other axial extremity of the elongated poles. The second belt being further adaptable to being worn across the small of the back of a seated person with the loops adjusted to receive the angular leg portion formed by the shin, knee and thigh of the seated person forming a back support and rest.

Abstract: A hand tool is disclosed for rapidly recovering an extensible and retractable antipersonnel barrier of helical barbed tape. The hand tool includes first and second elongated parallel gripping arms joined at one end by a base section. Each of the elongated gripping arms includes an L-shaped rigid safety barrier defined by a forward guard rail and an elongated lateral guard rail. The distal end of each of the elongated lateral guard rails is disposed intermediate the base section such that the lateral guard rails are parallel to the elongated gripping arms. The distal end of each of the forward guard rails are disposed at the distal end of each of the elongated gripping arms respectively, thereby defining a pair of generally rectangular zones of safety. The hand tool further includes a telescoping engaging arm which comprises a fixed outer tube and a removable elongated inner tube. The inner tube is connected to the fixed outer tube by a bayonet-type locking mechanism.

Further, a second handle may be pivotally mounted relative to a cross brace member directed between the legs.

As the tool (2) is inserted onto the circuit board (4), channels (52, 52') provided in legs (46, 46') of the tool (2) frictionally engage edges of the circuit board (4). As insertion continues, the camming arms (54, 54') engage the latching arms (18) of the connector (6), thereby moving the latching arms (18) from the circuit board (4). With the latching arms (18) disengaged from the board (4), the tool (2) is retracted.

Abstract: A hand held sheet carrier for use with plywood and wallboard sheets has a pair of rigid plate components that are pivotally interconnected. One plate component has an upright working position, a foot portion on which a sheet being carried is supported and a channel for receiving the lower edge of a sheet being carried on the carrier. The second plate component is pivotally moveable between a retracted position and an extended position and has a handle. It also has a foot provider which is offset from the foot portion of the one plate component when the second plate component is in the retracted position and which serves with the foot portion to retain the one plate component in its upright position on a supporting surface for the carrier. The arrangement facilitates the loading of the carrier with a sheet to be carried by the carrier. Provision is also made for a locking device for locking the plate components in the retracted position.

Abstract: Easy lifting and transportation of a twister bobbin, and movement of the bobbin onto a creel pin of a warper creel, is facilitated. A bridle has an eye disposed at its top, the eye receiving a hook connected to a powered lift. A generally semi-circular sheet metal body receives a bobbin body therein, the sheet metal body being pivotally mounted to the bridle for rotation about a horizontal axis. A yoke is rigidly connected to the body and terminates in a semi-circular portion which fits in a groove in the bobbin nose. A handle is connected to the yoke termination and extends at an acute angle to the dimension of elongation of the body and yoke. By grasping the handle an operator can pivot a bobbin mounted by the device from a vertical to a horizontal position, control the lift to move the bobbin into place with respect to a creel, and move the bobbin onto a horizontally extending creel pin.

Abstract: The opening device is for aiding the opening of containers having either the non-detachable, component type opening system or the twist-off type cap. The former system being characterized as having a scored section at the top of the container with an empaling tab in fulcrum alignment attached thereto. The opening device includes a unitary body member which has a leading end portion for sliding beneath the empaling tab and a trailing handle portion for grasping by the user, and tab restraining means for engaging the top of the empaling tab as the leading end portion is placed beneath the tab. The tab restraining means project upward from the side edges of the body member and then projects spacially parallel to at least a portion of the upper surface of the body member.

Abstract: An improved hose gripping tool is provided for use with high pressure hoses such as fire hoses. The apparatus includes a saddle which has offset opposed curved jaws that can abut a section of hose on opposite sides, 180.degree. apart. A handle connected to the device allows an operator, such as a fireman, to grip the apparatus. The apparatus reduces the possibility of inadvertent slippage, lessens the strain of supporting the hose and reduces exhaustion commonly experienced by firemen over a long period of time during fire-fighting with such hoses.

Further weight transfer is provided for in the form of a hook member secured to a belt which may be worn by a canoeist on the shoulder, around the waist, or both.
