Window Support Means Patents (Class 296/201)
  • Patent number: 5112101
Abstract: A molding installation has a molding concealing a space between an edge of a window panel and a compartment lid. The molding is mounted on a body panel of the motor vehicle by a curable adhesive. The molding has a C-shaped channel member of plastic material fitted on the edge of the window panel and having spaced apart outer and inner legs which forcibly grip the opposed outer and inner faces of the window panel. A means of spacing the channel is coextruded with the channel member and adapted for engaging the body panel of the motor vehicle to space the window panel from the motor vehicle. A locking nub is coextruded with the channel member and has a head spaced from the channel member by a neck. The head is adapted to seat within the curable adhesive to mechanically retain the molding onto the body panel. A decorative portion is extruded integral with the means of spacing and has a brim projects towards the compartment lid for overlying the space between window panel and the compartment lid.

  • Patent number: 5096254
Abstract: The invention relates to the construction of motor vehicle bodies. The vehicle bodies are constructed from a lower section formed of pressed metal panels connected together, and an upper section formed of frame elements. The lower section functions as a primary strength imparting component of the vehicle body, and the upper section functions as a primary style imparting component of the body. The configuration of the upper section can be varied by varying the arrangement of configuration of the frame elements so that the style of the vehicle body can be varied without necessitating a change to the lower section. The lower section will thus remain substantially unchanged for a range of vehicle styles or models.

Abstract: A side body section for motor vehicles is disclosed in a whole surface flush side glazing unit where even the region of the center column is covered by a transparent shield. In the side body section according to the invention, a transparent shield is fastened to a door frame which is prolonged by the width of the center column. This produces only one separating line between the two side doors. The glass or synthetic glass shield is arranged in the plane of the side windows. In the region of the shield, the door frame has recesses which permit the fastening of receiver units for locking systems or the like to the inside of the shield.

  • Patent number: 4923232
Abstract: A window apparatus for a vehicle comprising a vehicle body, a window glass, a lock means provided on the window glass, and a link-type hinge means which is provided on the vehicle body and is connected to the window glass through the lock means. When the window glass is closed or opened at a predetermined angle, the window glass and the link-type hinge means are connected together by the lock means, thereby enabling the window glass to be retained. When the lock means is unlocked, the window glass is disengaged from the link-type hinge means, thereby enabling the window glass to be fully opened. Accordingly, it is possible to readily take out luggage or the like in the compartment from the window without the need to open the door of the vehicle from the outside. Further, the link-type hinge means in this apparatus is designed so that there is no fear of a lock handle moving when the window glass is to be closed. Thus, it is possible to smoothly engage the lock handle with the lock means.

Abstract: A truck cab door system for increased right side viewing area includes a truck cab door having an inner skin panel and an outer skin panel spaced apart but joined together along the end edges thereof. A relatively large opening in an upper portion of the door skin panels provides a field of vision through a correspondingly dimensioned glass panel of a dropping glass window assembly received between the skin panels and within and closing off the opening when in a raised position thereof. A mechanism for causing selective dropping or raising of the glass panel of the dropping glass window assembly is operatively engaged to a mechanism for supporting the glass panel. A second, comparatively large opening is provided in a lower portion of each door skin panel with a viewing window assembly including a window panel fixed within the second opening of the outer skin panel and a clear panel removably mounted over the second opening of the inner skin panel.
