Adjustable Friction Detent Patents (Class 297/423.33)
  • Patent number: 11071667
Abstract: A hospital bed includes a base, a lifting mechanism, a rotating frame configured to rotate horizontally relative to the base, and a patient support surface pivotally secured to the rotating frame. The patient support surface includes a back section, a seat section, and foot section that articulate relative to each other. The patient support surface translates from a bed configuration to a side-egress chair or stand assist configuration. The foot section includes first, second, and third panels operably connected together and that are configured to move relative to each other in substantially parallel overlapping planes between an extended configuration when the patient support surface is in a bed configuration and a retracted configuration when the patient support surface is in a chair configuration. Contact of the foot section with a floor forces the first, second, and third panels to move to the retracted configuration.

  • Patent number: 9375371
Abstract: A wheelchair leg-rest adapter is configured to attach to a wheelchair using mounting features functionally compatible with those of a leg rest suitable for the wheelchair, and having mounting features functionally compatible with those of a wheelchair suitable for the leg rest. The leg-rest mounting features are pivotally connected to the structure comprising the wheelchair mounting features, so that a leg rest attached to the former can rotate relative to a wheelchair attached to the latter. The adapter further comprises an adjustment mechanism to move an effective pivot point between the leg-rest and wheelchair mounting features at least in a vertical direction, to bring the pivot point near the knee of a user of the wheelchair.

  • Patent number: 6880845
Abstract: A wheelchair footrest retractor (10) is disclosed for use with a footrest (16, 18) in a wheelchair (14) to allow the wheelchair user or caregiver to readily manipulate the footplates (20) between an upper retracted position and a lower use position by simply manipulating a handle(56) located to the side of the knee of the wheelchair user. The wheelchair footrest retractor (10) can be mounted to the wheelchair with little or no modification of the wheelchair. The rod (58) in the wheelchair footrest retractor (10) can be adjusted in length to fit a particular wheelchair and also adjusted when the length of the footrest(16, 18) is adjusted.
