Pivoted Handles Patents (Class 30/191)
  • Patent number: 11497173
Abstract: A garden shears has a first cutting member, a second cutting member and a protecting member. The first cutting member and the second cutting member are combined adjacent to each other, and the first cutting member and the second cutting member respectively have a blade portion facing the blade portion of the other cutting member. The blades of the first cutting member and the second cutting member are used for opposite positioning cutting, instead of staggered cutting after closing, which can avoid the formation of two different cut surfaces on both sides of the branches. The protecting member has a securing aperture and an arced slot, and the securing aperture is a polygonal aperture with multiple engaging edges.

  • Patent number: 8567034
Abstract: The invention relates to a compression tool (2) for the permanent connection of workpieces (14, 16, 18, 30, 34) having two pivot elements (4), which each have a compression jaw (10), and having at least one rotational axis (6), on which the pivot elements (4) are hinged, wherein the inner contours of the opposing compression jaws (10) form a receiving area (12). The present invention is based on the technical problem of disclosing an alternative compression tool (2), with which a permanent connection can be provided between workpieces (14, 16, 18, 30, 34) by axial compression. The technical problem is solved in that the inner contours have at least one sliding face (22), which is inclined relative to the receiving area axis (20). A compression tool (2) can thus be provided which, starting from a radial inward movement, performs a compression in the axial direction, nonetheless requires little installation space, and offers weight advantages due to a smaller axial extension, for example.

Abstract: A cutter for cutting a member has a first jaw and a second jaw mounted relative to each other to articulate along a range of motion between an open condition and a closed condition. The jaws are configured to provide a shearing action cutting between the first jaw and the second jaw on a first side of the member and an opposite shearing action cutting on an opposite second side of the member. In a single stroke cutting method the edges come together. They may be at an angle off-parallel to each other or oppositely stepped and intersecting in superposition. With centrally recessed edges, there may be opposite bypass cutting on opposite sides of the member. In a central region between the first side and the second side, there may be no bypass (e.g., approach being more conventional non-bypass cleaving).

  • Patent number: 4458418
Abstract: This invention relates to a hand held hydraulic cutting tool particularly useful to deactivate ejection seats in military aircraft rescue operations. The tool consists primarily of a hydraulic system composed of a fluid reservoir 11, a pumping piston 16, and an actuator piston 26. Mechanical cutting jaws 28, 29 are attached to the actuator piston rod 26. The hydraulic system is controlled by a pump handle 18. As the pump handle 18 is operated the actuator piston rod 26 is forced outward and thus the cutting jaws are forced together. The frame of the device is a flexible metal tubing 30 which permits easy positioning of the tool cutting jaws in remote and normally inaccessible locations. Bifurcated cutting edges 28a and 28b ensure removal of a section of the tubing or cable (40, FIG. 3) to thereby reduce the possibility of accidental reactivation of the tubing or cable being severed.

  • Patent number: 4441388
Abstract: A linkage apparatus for a pair of relatively pivotal elements, such as the pivotal jaws of a hand tool, preferably includes at least a pair of linkage members pivotally interconnecting the pivotal elements. Each of the preferred linkage members is pivotally pinned to the pivotal elements and includes elongated apertures therein for receiving and supporting the pivot pins of the other linkage member.

  • Patent number: 4268961
Abstract: A cutting device, particularly a bolt cutting device, is formed of two cutting blades pivoted around two fixed pins held by two side plates and actuated by two lever arms respectively pivoting around two other fixed pins on the same side plates. Pivot elements connect front ends of said lever arms with rear ends of said cutting blades. In one embodiment there are four pivot elements, two connecting each blade with the respective lever arm. Cross members of the same thickness as the pivot elements connect the two pivot pins on which the cutting blades are pivoted thereby permitting the use of thinner side walls. In another embodiment the rear end of each cutting blade and the front end of each lever arm is slotted to receive the respective pivot element, connection being made by pivot pins through aligned holes in the pivot elements and slotted ends of the cutting blades and lever arms.

  • Patent number: 4165745
Abstract: A surgical manipulator useful to apply compressively opposed forces and enable the surgeon to rotate the manipulator and the article it is applied to, with minimal lateral wobble and tremor. The manipulator comprises a pair of prongs, each of which supports a jaw with an operative element such as a needle holder, tissue pickup, nipper or scissors. The prongs are resiliently biased by bias means away from one another in a plane of flexure to spread the operative elements apart, and the prongs can be closed by force exerted on manipulation surfaces carried by the prongs. A spindle includes a knuckle rest which is closer to the joinder of the prongs than the manipulation surfaces. The knuckle rest bears against a knuckle (defined to include the muscle pad between the thumb and the index finger) when the device is held by the surgeon with his thumb and index finger on respective manipulation surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4028971
Abstract: A pair of pliers comprising a jaw assembly that is rotatable relative to a handle assembly preferably through a full 360.degree. angle thereby permitting use of the pliers with the jaw assembly in a plane that is independent of the plane of the handle assembly. The jaw assembly comprises a pair of pivotally interconnected jaws each having operating ends and a jaw centering mechanism. The handle assembly comprises a pair of handles fixed to a conic member and a linkage mechanism including a collar. The jaw assembly and the handle assembly are intercoupled by an operating shaft that passes in sequence through the collar and an aperture in the conic member to the jaw assembly whereby upon closing the handles the collar moves the shaft longitudinally thereby passing the operating ends into the conic member causing the jaw assembly to close.

  • Patent number: 3949473
Abstract: A bolt cutter has a pair of plates between which pass a pair of front axle pins on which are pivoted a pair of blades and a pair of rear axle pins fixed relative to the front pins and in turn pivotally carrying a pair of handles. The rear end section of each blade is formed with a part-cylindrical seat receiving the cylindrical head on one end of a rigid link having on its opposite end another such cylindrical head received in another part-cylindrical seat formed in the front end section of the respective handle. The parts of the blades and handles as well as the links between the support plates are all of like thickness and snugly held between these plates. A pair of inwardly open part-cylindrical seats formed in the blades between the front pins receive a pin serving to ensure symmetrical movement of the two blades whose cutting portions are spaced apart even when the blades are closed.
