  • Patent number: 7661194
Abstract: The present invention is an attachable rolling plate assembly which can be attached as a single unit to a portable cutting tool to facilitate the safe rolling movement of the portable cutting tool on the workpiece. The invention comprises a front wheel housing portion, a back wheel housing portion, and two or three metal rods which interconnect the two housings. The housings removably retain a pair of spaced apart wheels and means to retain a cutting tool on the housings so that the cutting tool can be rolled on the workpiece during operation of the tool while the cutting blade portion of the tool extends between a pair of adjacent interconnecting rod members. The front and rear wheel housing assembly receives the cutting blade in between its pins or axles, so that the entire width of the saw plate is supported by the wheels during cutting.

  • Patent number: 7475621
Abstract: An apparatus (148) for controlling a kerf formed in a work piece by a table saw blade. The apparatus may include a splitter (114) securely positioned to the saw table behind the saw blade, and a kerf keeper (118) that is positioned behind the splitter while the kerf remains open. The kerf keeper may be easily displaced and will automatically move with the work piece when pinched by a closing kerf, thereby keeping the kerf opened and limiting the amount of force exerted by the closing kerf on the saw blade and the splitter. A drill guide base (110) and optionally an adjustable rear drill guide (112) provide for precisely locating the mounting holes for the splitter and kerf keeper relative to the sides of an actual kerf formed by the saw blade. Abstract: The subject of this patent application, the Sill Saw, is an application-specific handheld circular power saw that affords the replacement of narrow frame windows, usually aluminum frame windows, with windows having thicker (deeper) frames, without the removal of the window casing materials or associated inside window moldings. This handheld power tool is specifically designed for the purpose of sawing window casing boards to a narrower width without removing them from the structure. There is no other method of accomplishing this, short of disassembling the window components, installing the new window, modifying the removed components and reinstalling them. Current, general purpose, handheld power saws cannot cut the window casing boards completely to the corners; that is, to their intersections with one another. This can be accomplished using the subject of this patent application, the Sill Saw.

Abstract: Prior power tool guides have not been successful as they have been awkward and inconvenient for a busy tradesperson to position on the workpiece. Those tool guides which have an integral gauge for measuring the required spacing between the guide and the tool cut in some cases may be readily used only for short cuts on narrow workpieces or must be held on the workpiece by hand. The present invention provides a saw guide which has an integral measuring gauge for locating the guide and an integral clamp which permits the guide to be quickly positioned and clamped on both narrow and wide workpieces.

Abstract: A wheel attachment apparatus for a portable circular saw having a circular blade driven by a motor for cutting a workpiece into a cut-off portion and a remaining portion during a cutting process. The wheel attachment apparatus includes a flat bottom plate attached to the circular saw and to be placed above the working piece to support the circular saw during the cutting process, and having a slot opening to allow the circular blade of the circular saw to pass through for cutting the workpiece under the bottom plate. A set of roller wheels is attached to the bottom plate such that when the circular saw is used to cut the workpiece, the set of wheels is brought into contact with the workpiece and elevates the bottom plate so that there is no contact between the bottom plate and the workpiece and instead the wheels are rolling on the workpiece to reduce any friction between the bottom plate and the workpiece and ease the movement of the circular saw during the cutting process.

Abstract: The pipe cutter includes a jigsaw with a motor that reciprocates a saw blade back and forth. A way is clamped to the jigsaw. A workpiece holder is slidably mounted on the way. The workpiece holder has a workpiece slot with a base, two side walls and a saw blade slot. A handle is attached to the workpiece holder. A pipe that is to be cut is placed in the workpiece slot and the workpiece holder is moved along the way toward the saw blade. The saw blade forces the pipe toward the base of the workpiece slot and cuts the pipe.

Abstract: A supporting roller platform fabricated from a rigid, durable sheet material such as steel or the like configured to receive in cooperating nesting engagement the skid plate of a power cutting tool such as a rotary saw is disclosed. The roller platform is formed with a flat base and a pair of opposing upstanding side walls or tabs formed from outer lateral portions of the base for supporting a plurality of shaft-mounted wheels. An elongated slot is provided in an axially offset, lengthwise direction of the base for receiving a cutting blade of the power tool therethrough as it is extended toward a working, cutting position after being projected through an overlapping axially offset, lengthwise opening provided in the skid plate. The elongated slot is sized and shaped to fully accommodate the cutting blade at any extended position thereof, as well as providing additional space as necessary to allow for airflow and debris removal from the workpiece during operation.

Abstract: This invention relates to a hand tool. The tool includes a replaceable cutting portion having an elongate cutting surface, a body and a handle. The body receives displaceable protecting apparatus for shielding the cutting surface of the cutting portion when the tool is not in use. The protecting apparatus is adapted at its forward distal end to contact a portion of the surface of the object to be cut such that when pressure is applied by pushing the tool against the object surface displacement of the protecting apparatus relative to the position of the replaceable cutting portion is effected to expose only as much of the cutting surface of the cutting portion as needed to effect the required cut in the object. Alignment means maintain alignment of the replaceable cutting portion relative to the position of the protecting apparatus throughout the cutting action.

Abstract: The present invention comprises additional embodiments in a circular saw aligning device which is not only easily releaseable but also entirely removeable from functioning engagement with either a specially made or prior art portable circular saw. An abutting assembly of the device rotates from an engaging position to a non-engaging position so the saw can be used without interference. This rotation is also the first step in removing the device entirely from the saw. The invention allows use of the circular saw when the saw blade is positioned at an acute angle with respect to the base plate.
