The refuse-trapping cover includes a frame (40) having a plurality of open windows (40a-40j) and attached to the outer casing (20) of a chain saw (1) to thereby cover the air inlet slits (22), and a mesh member (50) integrally fixed to the frame (40) to thereby cover open windows (40a-40j). The frame (40) is constructed to have predetermined dimension and configuration, and the mesh member (50) is fixed to a predetermined location of the frame (40) to thereby provide a sufficient space (S) between the mesh member (50) and the outer casing (20) to avoid the mesh member (50) from being adsorbed onto the outer casing (20).

  • Patent number: 7661194
Abstract: The present invention is an attachable rolling plate assembly which can be attached as a single unit to a portable cutting tool to facilitate the safe rolling movement of the portable cutting tool on the workpiece. The invention comprises a front wheel housing portion, a back wheel housing portion, and two or three metal rods which interconnect the two housings. The housings removably retain a pair of spaced apart wheels and means to retain a cutting tool on the housings so that the cutting tool can be rolled on the workpiece during operation of the tool while the cutting blade portion of the tool extends between a pair of adjacent interconnecting rod members. The front and rear wheel housing assembly receives the cutting blade in between its pins or axles, so that the entire width of the saw plate is supported by the wheels during cutting.

Abstract: The portable cutting tool includes a housing that rotatably supports a cutting blade, a base to be connected with the housing and having an opening through which the cutting blade is protrudable, and a protrusion amount changing mechanism. The protrusion amount changing mechanism has a link part extending from the base, and a fixing part which is provided at the housing, comes to a fixed state with respect to the link part when moved in one direction in a direction orthogonal to a rotational shaft of the cutting blade, and comes to a moving state to be movable with respect to the link part when moved in an other direction in the direction orthogonal to the rotational shaft, whereby a protrusion amount of the cutting blade from the second side of the opening is changed as the fixing part is moved with respect to the link part.

Abstract: A protective cover for a saw blade is formed of a plurality of interlocking members, linked together to form a chain of a length sufficient to completely surround a given blade, where the sharp edge of the blade is then encases within the interior region of the linked members. A specially-designed “master link” is used to join the two ends of the chain together and “lock” the cover in place around the blade edge. Links may be added to, or removed from, a chain to properly size the cover with respect to the blade. The links are preferably formed of a hard plastic material and are injection molded.

  • Patent number: 7628102
Abstract: It is an object of the invention to provide a dust collecting circular saw in which cooling air to cool the motor can be further effectively utilized. According to the present invention, a representative dust collecting circular saw may comprise a blade, a motor, a cooling fan, a dust case, a dust case cover and an air space between the dust case cover and the dust case. The cooling air to cool the motor is designed to be introduced into the air space. Therefore, according to the invention, heat of the dust case caused by hot chips collected within the dust case can be prevented from being transferred from the dust case to the dust case cover by the air space into which the cooling air is introduced. Thus, the user of the circular saw can securely be escaped from contacting any circular saw members heated by the hot chips within the dust case.

  • Patent number: 7578063
Abstract: A self-contained vacuum circular saw is presented. The vacuum saw has a casing around the saw blade that includes an accordion type lower section attached to the lower platform of the saw. A number of vacuum tubes, preferably four, are attached to the side of the circular saw opposite the blade. The armature of the circular saw that turns the blade also turns the vacuum impeller on the side opposite the blade. An impeller vacuum chamber pulls in the dust and debris created by the saw blade and discharges the dust and debris into a disposable and removable vacuum bag. An important aspect of this device is that the motor that turns the saw blade also turns the impeller, thus making the self-contained vacuum saw moveable from site to site.
