  • Patent number: 6770996
Abstract: In a rotary electric machine with a stator elastic support structure, conductor segments of a stator winding, each which is formed into an approximate U-shape, are inserted into slots of a stator core in such a manner that leg parts of each conductor segment penetrate through the slots from one end of the stator core to the other end thereof and are connected at top ends. Further, the conductor segments are arranged to have a predetermined clearance between adjacent two thereof at both coil ends of the stator winding, and a cooling fan is disposed so that air is blown toward the clearances of the conductor segments. Accordingly, when the stator core is supported in a frame through an elastic member, a magnetic noise can be reduced while it can effectively prevent heat deterioration of the elastic member due to heat radiated from the stator core and the stator winding, in low cost.

Abstract: A vehicle rotary electric machine includes a rotor, a stator having a stator core and a stator winding mounted in the stator core and a pair of frames for supporting the rotor and the stator. The stator winding has a plurality of conductor segments coated with insulation film. Each of the conductor segments has segment ends that are circumferentially aligned and form tow or more rings. The segment ends that contact each other are welded and form joints of winding that have a bare surface. Therefore, electrolyte or foreign particles are prevented from staying at otherwise deteriorated insulation film.

Abstract: A new and improved header design for a fluid tight, current carrying header that reduces direct contact between the liquid coolant and brazed joints. More specifically, the present invention provides for a header with hollow strands for carrying a coolant, and solid strands, the hollow strands being longer than the solid strands, the hollow strands grouped together at a first end of the header to form a hollow strand package, and the hollow strands and the solid strands grouped together at a second end of the header to form a mixed strand package. The hollow strand package may be fused to a liner of the header. This construction reduces water contact with the current carrying braze and groups the fluid carrying hollow strands in a separate hollow strand package where a reliable, corrosion-resistant metal fusing process can be applied to provide a reliable leak proof seal.
