Mechanical Shields Or Protectors Patents (Class 310/85)
  • Patent number: 7777378
Abstract: A shield member (90) is arranged on the rotor end face (18a) of an electric rotating machine (10). As the rotational velocity of a rotor (18) increases, the shield member (90) moves outward in the radial direction of a rotating shaft (12) to cover a part of the opening (86) of a slot (82). The shield member (90) controls inflow of lubricant from a portion in the axial-direction of the rotating shaft (12) on the outside of the rotor end face (18a) to the slot (82). Rotational resistance of the rotor (18) caused by stirring of lubricant can be reduced during high velocity rotation of the rotor (18).

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a motor overload protection device. The motor overload protection device includes a driving gear, a loading wheel, and at least one protecting gear unit rotatably fixed to the loading wheel. The loading wheel defines a central through hole for rotatably receiving a rotor of a motor. The driving gear is fixed on the rotor. The at least one protecting gear unit is rotated by the rotor. A resistance between the at least one protecting gear unit and the loading wheel is predetermined. When the load on the loading wheel is less than or equal to the maximum load of the motor, the resistance keeps the loading wheel and the at least one protecting gear unit together rotating around the rotor of the motor. When the load is greater than the maximum load of the motor, the at least one protecting gear unit rotates relative to the loading wheel.

Abstract: A central vacuum cleaning system has a motor in a motor housing in a canister with a receptacle. In the motor housing is a motor control circuit with a printed circuit board. The motor control circuit is mounted to the motor housing using a mounting post having a light guide. The mounting post receives light from a light source on the printed circuit board and guides the light through the mounting post to outside the motor housing. The mounting post can guide the light through structural or non-structural elements. The light provides illuminated information messages to a user. The mounting post has a low voltage connection section for receiving low voltage conductors from outside the motor housing. As the motor control circuit is within the motor housing, the motor housing is a motor control housing. The motor control housing can be separate from the motor housing.

  • Patent number: 6798096
Abstract: The present invention provides for a system and method for facilitating cooling of a totally enclosed motor. A first thermal barrier is coupled to a first end bracket and is operable to insulate bearings from internal heat produced by the motor. Either an external fan located opposite the drive end of the motor, an externally mounted blower, or free ambient air convection may be employed to provide cooling air to the motor. An air deflector is coupled to the drive end of the motor to capture the cooling air and direct it as high velocity air over the first end bracket thereby keeping the bearings supported within the first end bracket cool. Alternatively, an external fan may be coupled to the drive end of the motor to provide cooling air to the first end bracket.
