Abstract: The invention relates to a drive unit (10), especially for adjusting mobile parts in a motor vehicle, and to a method for producing such a drive unit. The drive unit comprises a housing (12) which is provided with an opening (18), leading towards the surroundings (23), on which a gas-permeable, liquid-impermeable membrane (20) rests. The housing (12) has a first housing part (14) with a peripheral collar (26) and a second housing part (16) obturating the first housing part (14). The opening is injection-molded to the second housing part (16) with a peripheral contact surface (28) which forces the membrane (20) against the collar (26) of the first housing part (14) once the housing (12) is closed.

Abstract: An automotive alternator has slip-rings connected to a rotor shaft and a brush device covering the slip-rings. The brush device is composed of a brush holder supporting brushes therein and a slip-ring cover firmly connected to the brush holder. The slip-ring cover includes a wall curved in a U-shape and a pair of flat walls closing the axial ends of the curved wall. Openings for ventilating the brushes and the slip-rings are formed between the curved wall of the slip-ring cover and the sidewalls of the brush holder. When the brushes are positioned downward of the slip-rings, the openings are open to the downward of the slip-rings. Therefore, water is prevented from entering into the brush device through the openings.

  • Patent number: 6824366
Abstract: A fuel pump in which a terminal plate can be liquid-tightly mounted to a body upper and prevented from being dislodged from the body upper without the need of other component parts is provided. The terminal plate is formed with a cut and raised portion for preventing dislodging. When the terminal plate is inserted into a terminal plate through-hole having a step portion, a projection and a press-fit portion, the cut and raised portion is closed by being pressed with the projection and allowed to reach the step portion without contacting the press-fit portion. Then, the cut and raised portion returns to its natural configuration. Thus, the terminal plate is prevented from being dislodged to fall into the fuel pump. Because the press-fit portion is not damaged when the terminal plate is inserted, the terminal plate can be placed in liquid-tight contact with the body upper block.

  • Patent number: 6737785
Abstract: An electric machine includes a stator with a plurality of circumferentially-spaced stator segment assemblies. A rotor rotates relative to the stator and defines an airgap between an outer diameter of the rotor and the inner diameter of the stator. Each stator segment assembly includes a stator segment core, an endcap that is attached to the stator segment core, and winding wire that is wound around the endcap and the stator segment core. The endcap provides first and second axial mating surfaces. The endcaps provide first and second circumferential surfaces on opposite axial ends thereof. First and second annular seals engage the first and second circumferential surfaces to provide circumferential seals at opposite axial ends of the stator. The annular seals, the axial seals and the circumferential seals prevent the entry of debris into the airgap.
