The gripping portion mechanically latches to the motor body thereby substantially preventing relative movement between the terminals and the sockets. A pliable member is mounted between the connector body and the housing. The pliable member allows relative movement between the connector body and the housing while the motor moves relative to the housing under varying loads.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2005Date of Patent: June 2, 2009Assignee: Visiocorp Patents S.a.r.l.Inventors: Mark Leonid Olijnyk, Daniel Joseph Flynn

Publication number: 20090134725Abstract: A motor stator mounting device includes a plastic motor housing having a cylindrical housing section for receiving the stator. Longitudinal ribs along an inside surface of the housing section are inclined to converge gradually in a distal direction, thus tending to center a stator inserted distally into the housing section. An annular stator retaining member includes a plurality of distally extending centering features. Outside surfaces of the centering features interact with an interior surface of the housing section to center the retaining member as it is inserted distally. Inside surfaces of the centering features interact with a proximal region of a previously inserted stator, such that distal insertion of the retaining member both axially positions and radially centers the stator relative to the cylindrical housing. The retaining member is secured to the housing with a series of sonic welds to positionally fix the stator inside the housing.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 27, 2008Publication date: May 28, 2009Inventors: Robert A. Publication number: 20090134726Abstract: A motor mounting device includes a polymeric motor housing having a cylindrical housing section for receiving motor components including a rotor. The housing section incorporates a detent feature disposed along the interior surface, with the interior surface inclined to gradually converge in a distal direction. The housing further has a distal end section that includes a first bearing seat centered on the housing axis. A rotor retaining member has an annular outer surface terminating at an arcuate peripheral edge, and comprises a second bearing seat. The rotor retaining member is insertable distally into the cylindrical housing section, following insertion of a rotor, to engage the first and second bearing seats respectively with distal and proximal bearings on a rotor shaft, to secure the rotor for rotation relative to the housing. During such insertion, the retaining member outer surface and the interior surface of the cylindrical housing section interact to center the retaining member.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 27, 2008Publication date: May 28, 2009Inventor: Robert A. Patent number: 7538468Abstract: A housing of an electric motor includes an inner circumferential surface, which includes recesses arranged along the circumferential direction. On an outer circumferential surface of a stator core of a stator are provided protrusions arranged along the circumferential direction. Fitting each protrusion to the corresponding recess fixes the stator core to the housing. A rotor is provided radially inward of the stator. In a state where each protrusion is fitted to the corresponding recess, a pair of side surfaces of each protrusion are retained by a pair of inner side surfaces of the corresponding recess in the circumferential direction of the housing. A gap is formed between an end face of each protrusion and an inner bottom surface of the corresponding recess facing the end face along the entire surface of the end face.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2007Date of Patent: May 26, 2009Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Toyota JidoshokkiInventors: Masatoshi Kobayashi, Minoru Mera, Taku Adaniya, Ai Saeki, Hiroshi Fukasaku

Publication number: 20090121568Abstract: A motor assembly (10) includes a permanent magnet DC motor (16) having a shaft (24) mounted for rotation with a face gear pinion (26) associated with the shaft. A jack shaft and clutch assembly (18) is associated with the face gear pinion and is constructed and arranged to prevent back drive of the motor under certain operating conditions. A spur or helical pinion (40) is operatively associated with the jack shaft and clutch assembly. A drive member (56) is operatively associated with the spur or helical pinion such that movement of the shaft and face gear pinion moves the spur or helical pinion to drive the drive member. A housing structure is defined by an upper housing (14) joined with a lower housing (12). The motor, the face gear pinion, the jack shaft and clutch assembly, the spur or helical pinion and the drive member are housed within the housing structure. Only one of the upper or lower housings includes mounting structure (25) constructed and arranged to mount the motor assembly to another object.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 14, 2007Publication date: May 14, 2009Applicant: Continental Automotive Systems US, Inc.Inventors: Luis E.
