  • Patent number: 11005349
Abstract: An electric motor system includes a drive shaft that rotationally drives a load, a bearingless motor, a power source unit, and a control unit. The bearingless motor includes a rotor and a stator having armature and support windings. The bearingless motor rotationally drives the drive shaft and supports a radial load of the drive shaft in a contactless manner. The power source unit applies a voltage to the armature and support windings. The control unit controls the power source unit so that a radial support force that is a sum of a radial support force caused by a support current and a radial support force caused by both the support current and an armature current is output, and so that one of an armature voltage across the armature winding and the support current is increased and the other of the armature voltage and the support current is decreased.

  • Patent number: 10879757
Abstract: Disclosed is an electronic motor with two bearings. The motor is structured so that, when loaded, the majority of the load (e.g., a radial load) is borne by one of the bearings. The bearing that bears a greater load may be larger and, thus, better suited for a heavy load. In some embodiments, the larger bearing may include rolling elements that have respective radii larger than respective radii of rolling elements of the other bearing by a ratio of at least 1.5 (150%). In some embodiments, the larger bearing may have an outer race with a radius that is greater than a radius of the outer race of the smaller bearing by a ratio of at least 1.5. In some embodiments, the motors may include a third bearing between the two bearings. The third bearing may reduce vibration in the motor.

Abstract: The subject of this invention is a laterally unconstrained magnetic joint and application of said joint in tip-tilt and piston-tip-tilt optical mounts. The laterally unconstrained magnetic joint in its basic embodiment comprises two interfacing parts: one having a flat surface interfacing a convex surface of the other, wherein one or both parts are made from permanent magnets that are magnetized along the axis of the joint, and the other of the said parts is made from a ferromagnetic material thus creating magnetic force attraction between the two parts. The resulting lack of lateral mechanical constraint between the two parts of the joint is utilized in tip-tilt mounts by decoupling an adjustor and/or actuator from the payload resulting in a simple, uniform design, while magnetic force provides retention sufficient for a wide variety of applications.

Abstract: An electric motor has stator with a core of magnetic material, a winding frame covering the core and windings wound around the winding frame. The core has an annular yoke and a plurality of teeth that extend radially outwardly from the yoke. The winding frame is an overmolded structure and has an insulation part that covers the core, a supporting part disposed inward of the insulation part and a plurality of ribs that connect the insulation part and the supporting part. A reinforcing ring is embedded in the supporting part. The strength of the reinforcing ring is higher than the strength of the winding frame. Thus material utilization is improved and the weight of the stator is reduced while ensuring the strength of the supporting part.

Abstract: This invention prevents seizure of a dynamic pressure gas bearing caused upon swinging contact between a motor shaft and a sleeve and an increase in contact friction torque. It also detects rotation of auxiliary bearings. A motor includes auxiliary bearings in series with a dynamic pressure gas bearing, and a non-contact detent torque generation mechanism parallel to the auxiliary bearings suppresses rotation of the auxiliary bearings. Where Ta denotes rotation-time viscous friction torque of the dynamic pressure gas bearing, Tka denotes contact friction torque possibly causing damage to the dynamic pressure gas bearing, Tb denotes rotation friction torque of the auxiliary bearings, and Tdmax denotes maximum torque generated when rotation of the auxiliary bearings is suppressed by the non-contact detent torque generation mechanism, (Ta+Tka)>(Tb+Tdmax)>(Ta), and the rotation detecting means detects the rotation of the auxiliary bearings.

Such a technology, graphene, is now at an early stage of development with excellent properties in the form of high conductivity, low resistivity sheets that are durable, light weight, and low cost. Multiple sheets of graphene provide a significant multiplier to earth's magnetic field yielding a feasible source of ecologically clean power. Graphene based EcoCharge units can be driven by electric motors putting graphene in motion to mine the earth's magnetic field.

The sleeve includes a communicating hole arranged to pass therethrough in an axial direction or obliquely with respect to the axial direction. A groove array is defined in the stationary body or the rotating body to cause the lubricating oil to flow into the communicating hole. An opening area of an inlet of the communicating hole may be arranged to be greater than a cross-sectional area of a tubular portion of the communicating hole to make it easier for the lubricating oil to flow into the communicating hole. Further, the shape of the inlet may be modified to make a loss coefficient at the inlet lower than a loss coefficient at an outlet. This contributes to preventing a leakage of the lubricating oil.
