Shadow Mask, Support Or Shield Patents (Class 313/402)
  • Patent number: 6441545
Abstract: In a color cathode ray tube in which the external surface of an effective portion of a panel has a flat surface or a slight curvature, the shadow mask is set such that the layout distance between electron beam through hole array near the long side of an effective surface of the shadow mask is larger in the vicinity of the short axis than the layout distance at the center of the effective surface. Further, the layout distance becomes gradually smaller in direction away from the short axis, and thereafter, the layout distance changes to an increase. In the vicinity of the short side of the effective surface, the layout distance becomes equal to or larger than the layout distance near the short axis. Therefore, the curvature of the shadow mask and the electron beam through hole array are set in proper condition, and mislanding of beam landing due to deformation or oscillation of the shadow mask can be reduced. At the same time, howling of the phosphor screen can be minimized.

  • Patent number: 6441566
Abstract: The thickness of a face panel is greater at a peripheral edge portion than at a center portion. At the inner surface of the face panel, a curvature radius in a short axis direction on a long axis is set to decrease from the center of the face panel toward a long axis end and, with L representing a distance from the center of the face panel to the long axis end, has a minimal value at a position spaced from the center of the face panel more toward the long axis end than L/2. A phosphor screen on the face panel has phosphor layers and non-emitting black layers and a percentage of the non-emitting black layers per unit area at least in the neighborhood of a diagonal axis end of the face panel is equal to or smaller than that at the center portion of the face panel.

Abstract: A cathode ray tube including a pair of supports arranged in parallel facing each other and a shadow mask acting as a color selection electrode including a large number of apertures. The shadow mask is stretched and held by the supports in a state in which tension is applied by the supports. In the shadow mask before being stretched onto the supports, the shapes of the apertures are varied so that the width of the apertures in the middle portion in the direction in which tension is to be applied narrows gradually from the central portion towards the both end portions in the direction parallel to the longitudinal direction of the support. Thereby, the shapes of the apertures can be made to be uniform over the entire surface in a state in which the shadow mask is stretched. As a result, a cathode ray tube with less color unevenness can be provided.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of making a steel sheet for a tension mask, comprising the steps of: hot rolling a steel consisting essentially of, by weight %, C: less than 0.1%, Si: 0.05% or less, Mn: 0.4 to 2%, P: 0.03% or less, S: 0.03% or less, sol.Al: 0.01% or less, N: 0.010% or more, and the balance of Fe; and annealing the cold rolled steel sheet, followed by a secondary cold rolling at a reduction rate of 35% or higher. The steel sheet produced by this method shows excellent creep resistance during blackening treatment and excellent magnetic shielding property with an anhysteretic permeability of 3400 or more at a DC bias magnetic field of 0.35 Oe, and therefore causes no color-deviation when applied to the tension mask.

Abstract: An aperture grille which can suppress vibrations of a flat grille without marring the appearance of a screen by not arranging damper lines inside an effective screen region of a cathode-ray tube. A pair of damper members 130A and 130B for damping the vibrations of a flat grille 110 are provided in upper and lower regions of the flat grille 110 outside an effective screen region of a cathode-ray tube. The damper members 130A and 130B are supported under a given tension by support members 132 and 134 mounted on second frames 124A and 124B of a frame member, thereby keeping pressure contact with the surface of the flat grille 110. Because the damper members 130A and 130B are not exposed to the effective screen region of the cathode-ray tube, the damper members 130A and 130B are out of sight from the front side of the screen, thus suppressing the vibrations of the flat grille 110 without marring the appearance of the screen.
