  • Publication number: 20010020814
Abstract: A color selecting apparatus for a cathode-ray tube including a frame, and a mask supported in the frame with tension along a minor axis, where the mask having a rectangular hole part formed with a plurality of electron beam-passing apertures, a non-hole part surrounding the hole part, and a pair of vibration attenuating members attached at both ends of the surface of the non-hole part, facing each other along a major axis, for attenuating vibration waves which transmit along the major axis. The vibration attenuating members are made of a metal having a greater mass than the non-hole part, and attached by spot-welding so that they are away from the non-hole part by a predetermined gap at every portion except the welding points. Therefore, the vibration attenuating members serve as a damper to attenuate vibrations which transmit in the major direction, particularly vibrations generated by the speakers.

  • Patent number: 6188169
Abstract: This invention intends to provide an aperture grill supporting frame whereby forces exerted by damper wires on individual thin tapes constituting an aperture grill are uniform. This object is achieved by the following: the surfaces for welding of upper and lower frames of an aperture grill supporting frame are so processed from the beginning as to have sizes compensatory for deformations occurring as a result of pressurization and thus they will form a part of a columnar wall surface with a radius of R when they subject to deformations in the presence of a pressure. Thus, the surfaces for welding at both ends, for example, take a slightly bulged form as compared with a sector of a radius of R before they are subject to welding.

Abstract: A shadow mask opposing a phosphor screen includes a substantially rectangular mask body having a number of electron beam passage apertures, and a substantially rectangular mask frame having four side walls supporting a periphery of the mask body. Among the side walls, a pair of long side walls each has a central connecting portion which is located at a central portion thereof in lengthwise direction and fixed to the mask body, and a pair of protruding portions which are provided on both sides of the central connecting portion in the lengthwise direction and protrude in a direction apart from the mask body. Each protruding portion defines a gap between the side wall and the mask body, and a width of the gap gradually increases as it goes far from the central connecting portion.

  • Patent number: 6175185
Abstract: A shadow mask for a cathode ray tube includes through-holes defined by first and second recessed formed at first and second surfaces of the shadow mask, respectively. Each through-hole has a first wall farther away from a center of the shadow mask than a second wall thereof. The second recess has a smaller size than that of the first recess. The first wall is formed of a first wall portion defined by an inner surface of the first recess and a second wall portion defined by an inner surface of the second recess. The second wall portion of through-holes located at a peripheral region of the first region has a configuration such that electron beams reflected therefrom are directed to an inner surface of the first recess to thereby reduce electron beams reflected therefrom in directions different from a direction in which the electron beams are originally directed before the electron beams enter the shadow mask.
