  • Patent number: 11363687
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a portable low voltage switching device to control the power and brightness of LEDs in LE arrays. The device is further comprised of two circuits, one power circuit to control the LED wattage, and another brightness circuit to control the LED lumens. The device is connected in between an LED driver and the LED arrays, receiving a stepped down DC voltage and splitting it across the two LED arrays. The device can provide power and adjust the brightness to both of the LED arrays, with the first LED array having a “warm” colour and the second LED array having a “cool” colour. Therefore, instead of using a single light fixture containing a single LED array, the device can be used with a single fixture having two LED arrays, providing a variety of brightness and power options to the cool and warm colours.

The isolation circuit, coupled to the control circuit and the light source driver, receives the first control signal and generates a second control signal to the light source driver, which controls the light source driver to generate the third voltage and provide the third voltage to a light source according to the second control signal. The isolation circuit electrically isolates the control circuit from the light source driver.

Peripheral circuits include occupancy sensor circuits and relay drive circuits, but may include other circuits such as communication circuits. The sensor may be configured to periodically wake itself up, check ambient light conditions to see if lighting is below the set threshold. If it is not, the sensor goes back to sleep. If it is, then the sensor can power up the occupancy sensor circuit to see if the space is occupied; if not, it can go back to sleep. If the space is occupied, it can turn on other peripheral circuits necessary to control the load.

Abstract: A variable hue task lamp with novel hue selection component is disclosed herein. The color and intensity of a task lamp is adjusted using a wireless connection from a device such as a smart phone, tablet, or computing device based upon an optimization method using a sample text or scene. The user first optimizes hue by adjusting the background color of the sample text or picture on the device. The optimum hue is then communicated to the task light, which sets light emitting diode intensities to match the optimum choice. Presets further localize choices in color space, and a comparison to white verifies the benefits of the chosen hue.
