Abstract: An alignment tool 1 for use in marking a surface is disclosed. The tool comprises a handle 6, two pairs of longitudinal arms 2,4 and 3,5 each rotatably mounted in the region of their longitudinal centres to a rotational mechanism provided in or on the handle. The rotational mechanism is arranged such that, in use, movement of one of the pairs in a first rotational direction results in movement of the other pair in the counter direction by substantially the same angle. Each of the arms carries at least one movable marking indicator 50, 53. A user-operable locking mechanism is on or associated with the handle, the locking mechanism being configured selectively to prevent and enable rotation of the arms.
Abstract: An adjustable arch measuring tool measures an arcuate curvature of one of a window and a door and thereby assists a user to layout a radius of the arcuate curvature on an existing cutting surface. The adjustable arch measuring tool includes a first member having an arcuate slot defining an adjustable fulcrum axis formed at a proximal end thereof, a second member having an aperture formed at a proximal end thereof, and a fastener removably inserted through the aperture and selectively locked along a curvilinear longitudinal length of the arcuate slot. Advantageously, the second member is selectively pivoted about the adjustable fulcrum axis defined along the arcuate slot of the first member. With the use of reference points and guide pins, each half of the arch can be easily drawn directly on the working surface.
Abstract: An attachment mountable on the underside of a router by means of which slots or grooves may be accurately cut in a work-piece parallel to an edge of the piece. The attachment comprises a plate member preferably formed of transparent plastic sheet material. The plate member is generally sector-shaped and has an area several times greater than the area of the router underside. A router blade opening is located in the plate member. A fence member is pivotally attached adjacent one end to the plate member on the underside of the plate member adjacent its narrow end. The fence member has a straight edge which extends from the place of pivotal attachment to the arcuate edge of said plate member. The fence member has a cut-out in its straight edge of such size and location as to coincide with the router blade opening when the fence is aligned with the blade opening.
Abstract: Marking out device having a sliding block for sliding along the outer edge of a workpiece with a vertical wall resting against the outer edge of the workpiece. A graduated horizontal guider is secured at one end to the upper side of the sliding block and extends laterally therefrom. A holder with a vertical through bore for clamping a pin-shaped marking out member is displaceable along said guider starting from a zero-position of the graduation in which position the axis of the bore lies in the plane of the inner surface of the vertical wall of the sliding block.
Abstract: A drafting tool is provided to assist in making parallel lines which can be horizontal, vertical or at any angle. The tool has two legs pivoted together and at least one of said legs carries a bar spaced above the drafting paper. The bar carries markers in the form of sharpened metal pins that indent drafting paper, or in the form of writing tips that leave a mark on paper. The bar is resiliently held, and when manually pushed against the drafting paper, the pins indent or the writing tips mark the paper. The draftsman then uses a straight edge to draw lines through the indicia thus made. The pins and writing tips are preferably uniformly spaced in a straight line and the spacing between indicia on the drafting paper with respect to a horizontal or vertical line are variable and are determined by the selected angle between the two legs. Suitable graduations at the pivot can advise the user of the pivot angle to select to obtain the proper indicia spacing with respect to a horizontal or vertical line.
