  • Patent number: 5249984
Abstract: An adapter including a front and rear conductive portion separated by a filter device and a non-conductive support, through which an RF-type cable connector can be inserted and mounted on a receiving connector on an external device. Because the conductive portions of the adapter are isolated from the panel by means of the disc capacitor, all DC ground currents are prevented from passing through the filtering device, effectively isolating the shell of the panel on which it is mounted, while all AC currents are passed through the filtering device to the panel on which it is mounted, effectively grounding any undesired radiating signals and preventing interference. The adapter can be supplied as a single unit which is simply inserted over the connector body before panel mounting.

  • Patent number: 4646037
Abstract: A filter contact comprising an electric contact in the form of a metal rod surrounded by a filter element of tubular shape. The external face of the filter element is fitted with a first electrode and the internal face of the filter element is fitted with a second electrode which is connected to the electric contact, the two electrodes being isolated from each other. The filter element of tubular shape is constituted by a tubular varistor in which the second electrode has an extension on at least one lateral electrode face having a zone of rounded shape such that coating in this zone with an electrode paste known per se produces a deposit of substantially constant thickness.

  • Patent number: 4641907
Abstract: A solderless filtered connector is formed by a first housing of insulative material defining a plurality of filter passages, with resilient tines at least at one end of each passage. The first housing is plated with a conductive material to form a ground plane. Each filtered terminal is formed by a pin terminal having a compliant portion which engages an inner conductive surface of a respective filter sleeve, a filter locating shoulder and oppositely directed mating ends. Each filtered terminal is mounted in a respective passage with the tines making a resilient contact with the outer conductive surface of the filter. The connector can also include a second housing and front insert to enclose the filtered terminals and a metal shell for mating purposes.

  • Patent number: 4642589
Abstract: A high frequency interference suppression device comprising a line to line filter which is adapted to be mounted in a metal bulkhead such that both lines are electrically isolated from the bulkhead. The filter comprises a feed-through capacitor whose outer tubular electrode is soldered to the inner periphery of a metal sleeve. The other, inner electrode is isolated from the sleeve. The metal sleeve is adapted to be mounted in an aperture in a bulkhead by means of an insulating bush so that decoupling of interference currents can occur from one line to the other at the bulkhead without connecting either line to the bulkhead itself. By this means, no interference currents are introduced to the bulkhead, or within the bulkhead enclosure via stray capacitances.

  • Patent number: 4606598
Abstract: A connector is described which holds many contacts, and which can provide a direct ground connection to a contact, or provide a capacitive coupling between the contact and ground, in a rugged and simple construction. The connector includes a thick metal grounding plate attached to a metal shell that forms most of the outside of the connector. A dielectric layer lies on a face of the grounding plate and is covered by a metal overlayer to form a capacitor. A pin contact is connected to the overlayer by means of an insulator which has a plated-through hole engaged with the pin contact. The insulator also has a plated surface in facewise contact with the overlayer, to provide a capacitive coupling between the pin contact and the grounding plate. The grounding plate can have a hole plated with a softer material, and another pin contact can displace some of the softer material to lie in good contact with the grounding plate.
