Material Treated By Electromagnetic Energy Patents (Class 34/245)
  • Patent number: 5829163
Abstract: A frit-drying system for cathode ray tubes is to utilize VHF and it is to evaporate organic matters which are contained in the frit spread on the funnel by a VHF dielectric heating method that matters with dipole components are heated from the inner part of the frit by dielectric loss of VHF when the VHF is injected on the matters with dipole components. A frit-drying system for cathode ray tubes utilizing VHF includes a funnel transferring device, and a main furnace body which defines the VHF room for drying frit therein, a VHF oscillating device, and VHF induction path which inducts VHF generated from the VHF oscillating device into the main furnace body.

  • Patent number: 5367786
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for determining a process parameter of a material in a processing system having two containers. The material being monitored is disposed in one container and a single thermal energy control device is applied to both containers. The heat flux of each container is determined while the single thermal control device is applied to both containers. The process parameter is determined in accordance with the determined heat flux. The thermal energy control device may be a single heating surface for warming the two containers, or a cooling device such as a refrigerator. The process parameter may be the drying rate of the material and the drying rate can be determined during the processing of the material. The drying rate and the percent of drying can be displayed and the thermal energy level of the containers can be controlled according to the determined drying rate. A calibration procedure for calibrating the apparatus is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5325600
Abstract: The present invention features a UV tube detector for sensing a resonant arcing condition in a microwave environment. Where clothing or fabric is being dried in a magnetron-powered, microwave chamber, the UV tube detector is placed in proximity to the fabric. The UV tube detector senses a possible resonant arcing condition related to small metal objects hidden in the material. Upon the sensing of arcing, tile UV tube provides a signal for shutting down the magnetron power. In conjunction with UV detection, the moisture condition can be monitored during the drying cycle. At a point in the microwave heating cycle consistent with an "end of microwave heating cycle" or "near dryness", the power output of the magnetrons is reduced or terminated. The moist fabric can then be dried via reduced microwave heating and/or by normal heating methods, including, but not limited to, electrical radiant heating and convection techniques.
