Abstract: A drive assist apparatus includes a detector and a traveling controller. The detector detects an operation target of automatic emergency braking of a vehicle. The traveling controller includes a calculator and a determiner, and controls the automatic emergency braking on the basis of a result of the detection performed by the detector. The calculator calculates each of a target deceleration rate and a variation rate. The target deceleration rate is a target value of a deceleration rate of the automatic emergency braking. The variation rate is a rate of variation in the deceleration rate required for the deceleration rate of the automatic emergency braking to reach the target deceleration rate. The determiner determines a contact risk of the vehicle with the operation target on the basis of the target deceleration rate. The calculator increases the variation rate when the contact risk is determined by the determiner as being relatively high.

  • Patent number: 9619720
Abstract: An imaging system for a vehicle is provided for distinguishing between tail lights of another vehicle and a flashing red stop light. The system includes an imager configured to image a forward external scene and to generate image data corresponding to the acquired images; and a processor configured to receive and analyze the image data to identify red light sources and to further analyze each red light source to determine if the red light source is detected for a predetermined time period. If the red light source is not detected within a predetermined time period after it is detected, the processor determines that the red light source is a flashing red stop light. Otherwise, if the red light source is detected for a predetermined time period, the processor determines that the red light source may be a tail light of another vehicle.

Abstract: In a method for operating a motor vehicle, data obtained from outside the motor vehicle, which indicate the existence of a hazardous situation, are transmitted to a receiving device. A warning concerning the hazardous situation is communicated to the user of the motor vehicle. In addition to the external vehicle data, data obtained from inside the vehicle, which indicate the existence of a hazardous situation, are evaluated. The warning is communicated to the user of the vehicle subject to the evaluation of the data obtained from outside the vehicle and the data obtained from inside the vehicle.

Abstract: A system for indicating braking intensity to a main vehicle has an observational device monitoring positional and speed data of at least one vehicle proximate the main vehicle. A control unit is coupled to the observational device. The control unit processes the positional and speed data monitored by the observational device and generates graphical representations of the at least one vehicle proximate the main vehicle and graphical representations of a braking intensity level of the at least one vehicle proximate the main vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9340246
Abstract: A bicycle brake light system with a graduated light display that is activated as a direct result of and in correlation with the degree of bicycle deceleration. The brake lamp lights are illuminated in a graduated sequence resulting from a predetermined range from slight deceleration to hard breaking that is conveyed visually through the number and color of illuminated lamps. The brake lamp assemblage interface calculates deceleration algorithmically through a magnet and sensor receptor and receiving programmable logic controller that receives, computes, and conveys a bicycle wheel's decreasing revolutions per unit of time optically through illuminating lights to fellow vehicle operators and pedestrians.

  • Patent number: 9327642
Abstract: A deceleration-triggered stop lamp installable into for vehicles includes a support frame to which is mounted: a plurality of LEDs; a deceleration sensor; microcontroller; an energy storage component; and power circuitry configured to detect when the vehicle brake pedal has been depressed and to divert power from the vehicles power system to charge the energy storage component. In the event the vehicle decelerates at a rate greater than a predefined threshold, the power circuitry is configured to illuminate the LEDs with power from the energy storage component.

  • Patent number: 9302614
Abstract: A system for detecting vehicle deceleration having an accelerometer, a processing arrangement, and a deceleration indicator. The processing unit samples data from the accelerometer, and based on that data, determines if the vehicle is braking or otherwise decelerating. If the vehicle is braking or otherwise decelerating in excess of a threshold, the deceleration indicator is activated.

  • Patent number: 9260095
Abstract: A vision system of a vehicle includes a camera disposed at a vehicle and having a field of view forward of the vehicle. An image processing system is operable to process image data captured by the camera to determine the presence of a leading vehicle ahead of the equipped vehicle and to determine an illumination level of a taillight of the leading vehicle. Responsive to a determination of a relative speed of the leading vehicle relative to the equipped vehicle and a relative acceleration of the leading vehicle relative to the equipped vehicle, the vision system determines a braking level of the equipped vehicle to mitigate collision with the leading vehicle. Responsive to the determination of the illumination level of the taillight of the determined leading vehicle, the vision system is operable to apply a weighting factor to adjust the determined braking level for the determined traffic condition.

  • Patent number: 9221434
Abstract: A method for operating a self-propelled agricultural machine that has a traction drive, a service brake, a control and a man machine interface including an accelerator pedal and a brake pedal, where a user actuation of the brake pedal causes the service brake to be operated. The method includes monitoring the user actuation of the accelerator pedal by the control to detect a brake indication, which is a predetermined indication for an approaching user actuation of the brake pedal. Upon detecting a brake indication, the control implements at least one preparatory measure by the control for the preparation of a user actuation of the brake pedal. The implemented preparatory measure alone does not have a braking effect on the agricultural machine.

A constellation addresses aggregate capabilities provided by a combination of devices and/or software available on the network. The network may define multiple constellations. Services are written for constellations, and the services may be pulled from external sources for use on the network. A server on the network, such as a service host, may coordinate and manage obtaining services from the external sources, and removing or disabling services for constellations no longer valid.
